"May I?" Charles asked and wiggled his fingers in the air.

Erik was sceptical, but nodded eventually. As Charles touched his fingers to his temple, Erik felt as if the world has just dropped out beneath him.
He remembered loneliness, when it had meant something to him, but the emptiness, the longing, the need, the love that came at him was raw like nothing he knew. In that second he believed and he understood. Charles connected to the world like no other being he had ever met and he finally comprehended it.
