Stolen from Laurie and Michele who stole it from Chad who stole it from...

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Bucking the consensus...hot chocolate. I'm just not a noggy sort.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Well, he used to wrap, but lately he's been putting things in hand decorated paper bags, and filling them with confetti...Santa thinks he's so clever.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or clear?
This year they're all red and white.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Nope. Pets. Wait...we don't hang pets...we don't hang mistletoe BECAUSE of the pets. Tell PETA to back off.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Week of Thanksgiving for the outside stuff. We hire a service. Inside...my wife used to do it and turned the place into a sort of Rudolph-chewed-on-tinsel-and-threw-up-in-here wonderland. Now it's whenever anyone has the time. This year we still put up five trees inside, so someone had time on their hands.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
We used to get meat pasties on Christmas Eve...hot and kind of crispy...you never got those any other time of year. And chestnuts... These days, I think it's hot sugar cookies (the kind with the picture in the centre) while watching some fun vid.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
I think the first year I got an actual real toy from Father Christmas. My grandparents didn't believe in toys, so Christmas was very practical...new trousers for school, a new pair of shoes...that kind of thing. I'm sure I got toys when I was about two, but I don't remember those. First real toy I got that I recall was a tool kit (you remember; hammer, saw, spanner...all in miniature). I went around 'fixing' things for weeks. I think my step mother took it away from me after I 'fixed' the bannister down to the kitchen and someone nearly took a tumble when it came away from the wall.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
The truth? What truth? What? Is he gay? You know...I always wondered about those 'elves'....

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
I open gifts all over the holiday. I open some Christmas Eve with TC's lady and her kids. Christmas morning with everyone. Christmas evening with Jaxon. Whenever Susan's off work. Four am online with my step parents and my son.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?:
Snow? I live in Los Angeles now. I barely remember it.

12. Can you ice skate?
I used to. Skates are like skis for me...not a good idea.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Oh, gosh...favourite gift...you know, it isn't the gift, it's the giver. Little gestures. Small things that were selected with love and care. It's heartwarming when you open a little package and you know just what the giver was thinking when they saw that gift. The best gift is always to find someone thought of me.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Aside from the Spiritual aspect of it? What it does to people. There's a transformation. It doesn't happen so much in recent years. We've gotten too politically correct. But I remember when Christmas meant a softening of hearts, a widening of smiles, a swelling of hope. Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men actually existed for a few days. I love it when a song comes on, or an old vid, or a card comes in the mail, and it makes your eyes sting a little, makes your chest ache in that good way.

15. What is your favorite Holiday dessert?
I'm sure I'm going to lose my UK citizenship for this, but I don't like plum pudding. I'm a choccy cake guy. Or bikkies. Shortbreads, sugar cookies, chocolate brownies (Hi! June).

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Advent gifts. The planning, the buying, the wrapping, the shipping, the anticipation of fun for the recipients. The five minutes of being five years old. Christmas zen. Laurie, sprinkles will make even Swiss Miss magic at Christmas.

17. What tops your tree?
Depends on the tree. The outside trees all have stars this year. The three in the living room are that sort of rustic look...no toppers. The one in the dining room (the 'big' tree) has a silver dove. The one in my room (my Advent/Clan tree) has a stuffed bunny, of course.

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
The anticipation of giving, when you're buying/making that perfect gift, and waiting to give it. <-- Couldn't put it better myself, Laurie.

19. What is ur favorite Christmas Song?
Oh, gosh...where to begin...Well, obviously, Ave Maria, O Holy Night, Angus Dei, Panis Angelicus, Ode to Joy...And there are some arrangements I like, Stacie Orrico's O Come All Ye Faithful, for example, and NO ONE sings The Christmas Song like Nat King Cole. I like Cradle in Bethleham by Beautiful Mistake, This Christmas by Toby Mac, Destiny's Child's version of Carol of the Bells (I like TSO's version, but then, I like anything by TSO), Building 429's We Three Kings, Big Daddy Weave's Go Tell it On the Mountain...yeah, I could go on and on and on and....

This was fun. Thank you.

Happy Christmas.
