I've been knitting off (insert returning to college here) and on for the past 15+ years and have been reading not posting here. Of all the objects I've knitted, I have never made a cardigan sweater for myself. I chose the Feather and Fan Stitch Cardigan from the winter 2007 issue of Interweave Knits, even though I don't like the f&f stitch, as a rule.
I didn't use the Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Brushed Alpaca that the pattern called for, instead opting for good old reliable Cascade 220. I had valuable help from my LYS to help me chose the colors for the f&f stitch band, but they questioned my use of River Rock for the man body.
To achieve the correct gauge, I had to use size 9 needles, but that was all I changed in the pattern.
The end result...
I took the picture yesterday and all I have left is three rows of the garter stitch button band, sew on the buttons, weave in the end and wear with pride.
Just thought I'd share.
