If, for some reason, I ever left the SF Bay Area? Seattle or Portland would be next, even if I would be sneered at as an expat Californian for it. 8-)

I've noticed this phenomenon in several states: the Designated Liberal Preserve, where you can See Them in Their Natural Habitat--which is, apparently, the university and environs.
Colorado has Boulder, Texas has Austin, Utah has Salt Lake City...those are the ones I know of so far, although I'm sure there are more.

I haven't done anything with this yet, primarily as my climate doesn't really lend itself well to that sort of thing...but everything's worth looking at. 8-)

Genealogy is what got me interested in Scandinavian knitting also (I have always admired it, but it's still on my list of things to knit). I'd love to learn a craft that is representational of my ancestors. Seems like it would be a lot more interesting to learn than, say, rosemaling! ;)
