Not to offend anyone, but ... is Spoon's new album a joke? Discuss amongst yourselves. I'm glad I only paid $11 for it. At least it came with a bonus disc. The question is, though - will I even bother listening to it? The album is bad enough.

A very kind individual from Germany gave me $122.50 for this. I made a CD-R copy, with photocopied artwork ( Read more... )

Gimme Feces. And $9.

Haha ... I hate when this happens: You think of something funny you should've said, like, way after the chance has passed. For example: Yesterday, when you told me about 'Emo girl' being fat, I was going to quote Ghostbusters and say "Okay, who brought the dog?" This idea came into my mind whilst watching Stripes this morning. Haha, oh well.

The bonus disc is at home, where it belongs. I'm afraid to touch it. I'm already experiencing illness as a result of the album. I listened to the first, like, 8 songs ... and then nausea set in

I'll probably do it tomorrow. I'll keep you updated! I would do it now but I'm at school and the CD's in my bedroom. Tomorrow, though!

I think the last album of theirs that I liked was GTC. I don't know, I just miss when they used to rock. And it makes me angry that they refuse to play anything from Telephono. Some of their best songs are on that.

Gimme Fiction blowz. It's just like every other big release these days; frontloaded with 2-3 great tracks, then fluff fluff fluff fluff...... Remember when bands made albums?

No kidding. You know, even when Pavement flopped at the end (see: Terror Twilight), the album still had 3-4 songs that rocked. You know, with guitar, and everything. The new Spoon album ... I don't know. I looked at the liner notes, and Josh Zarbo doesn't even play bass much on the album, and Britt is playing all sorts of things that, really, you can't get too excited about if you're going to see the band live (piano, etc.). I mean, yes, piano players are very talented, and the piano's a beautiful instrument, but isn't this supposed to be a rock band? You're absolutely right. Seriously, I listened to like the first 8 songs on Gimme Fiction and I had to stop. I couldn't take anymore

I even thought Terror Twilight was a fitting conclusion, and pretty well packed with above average songs (never cared for Spiral's contributions, anyway, except "painted soldiers").

I think Spoon has just hit the point where Britt's trying to be too calculated, and it also sounds like he's just now discovered Zepplin, long after the 8th grade, when you're supposed to go through your Zepplin phase. A Series of Sneaks was tits, in my book.

Most of Scott's best songs are on 'b'-sides, like "Coolin' By Sound" and "Winner of The" and "Mussle Rock." Steve dominated the albums, of course. Hahah ... yeah, Britt discovered Led Zeppelin way, way too late. I'm tired of all of this 'classic rock' in the 21st century. I want rock music. Jesus! Yeah, Series ruled. GTC was great, too. Series is the best, though, I think you're right

Yeah, but don't expect as much, should you sell yours - I think the bidding got kind of crazy because the buyer is in Germany and didn't know any better ... and it's probably 100x as rare there as here, so he had no choice but to pay so much for it. Yeah, you should sell yours, too ... I mean, you'll probably get like $50-$60 for it, at least. Just make a CDR of it. That's all I did - I have CDR with b&w photocopied artwork. It's the same thing, practically. If you bought the 'Soft Effects' vinyl edition at the Orlando show a long time ago (I think you did? I can't remember), that's worth a lot, too. Someone sold one on eBay recently for like $80+. I don't think I can sell mine, though. I like that record a lot.

Soft Effects sounds too damn good on vinyl, I'm not going to sell it. Telephono on CD, on the other hand...
