Love in Hexasyllables XI: Memory

Oct 13, 2006 20:40

Long have I sought to know
The crux of love, though ‘tis
By no means an easy
Task for one untutored
In the amorous arts.
Yet this much I have learnt:
What exists between us
Is sweeter for being
Unnamed, a vast unknown
Of possibilities.
I will not ask for more.
To do that is to tempt
Fate, for you will fly if
It cages instead of
Freeing. Or so you said,
Before you flew across
A sundering ocean.
Forget me if you must,
But at least remind me
To try to do likewise.
