Somewhere out there it lies,
A sequence of pixels
Capturing what should've been
Memorable moment:
Boy in the company
Of three whom he has loved.
But there is no joy here:
The first paid him no heed,
A shallow crush that soon
Dissipated. The next
Broke his heart by telling
Him he deserved better,
Steadfastly excluding
Herself from the choices.
The best he can hope for
Must be friendship, tried and
True, but he'd be lying
To say he does not dream
Otherwise whenever
Their paths happen to cross.
He still waits. Hopefully.
Hopelessly. Foolishly.
The last was just rebound,
Which was being in love
Simply for its own sake.
Who knows what became of
That photograph? It'd be
Nice to have it to serve
As warning to himself
In the times yet to come -
Guard your heart and don't give
Love so freely away.
