i swear i knew this one

I was going to say something like "sculptural mesh is the best thing EVER and I want to have its amazing two-way expandable babies." But instead I will shake my fist at natural heatsinks that come with their own instantly forming oxide layers.

Chicken wire comes in nice friendly solderable metals, and therefore I guess I should repeat the experiment at a proper hardware store -- one not in La Cité des Enfants Perdus. I suppose I'll keep this stuff around as a sculptural material. (Pursuant to the Faraday cage problem, yes, this is for the same project; I just want to get the felting part figured out.)

Hmph.

Plus side! You could anodize this stuff.

Minus side: Anodized layer would flake off if you breathed on it too hard. It's really soft.

celestialgrey: I suppose maybe you could if you cut and fused it in an oxygen-free environment.
Midnight: to space!
celestialgrey: I nominate Bella as my orbital machining captain.
Midnight: i don't know if i could put you in a space shuttle. i think you'd spend most of your time rubbing up against the panels and purring.
celestialgrey: i've been in microgravity without sexually harassing the aircraft.
celestialgrey: just fyi.
celestialgrey: you mean Bella? hmmm.
Midnight: ¬.¬
celestialgrey: yes, she might pose more of a problem.
Midnight: no, no, you.
celestialgrey: oh. well then. harrumph, for i am affronted.

...

Okay, not that amusing. Fuck that noise.

wtf, metalwork
