Yesterday I learned that painting trees is strangely much easier when you paint the large branches 'backwards', from narrow tip towards the trunk. I think this makes more sense than I'm allowing. The branches are rooted in the trunk rooted in the earth, and painting them this way results in a picture both more accurate and more energetic. All the drawings I did from trunk to branch tip had a lifeless, cartoony look.
Really wish I had someone to go get coffee with.
