I will ignore all the events that came before about 11pm. Not interesting.
Went to Rubyfruit. Got some disorganized sketching done, and watched large portions of the Olympic opening ceremonies since they were projecting them on a big screen. Mourned my shyness when someone left too early. I was starting to think about leaving when a couple tried to sit down next to me with only one chair there. I offered to go find another chair and she said "Don't worry, she's from Spain, they're used to standing up at the bar there."
"Where in Spain?" I asked.
So transpired a three-hour conversation in mixed English and Spanish with a fashion designer from Buenos Aires and a risk analyst from Madrid. The designer kept buying me drinks. Phone numbers made new friends. Have never felt so pleased about all those years of studying Spanish.
