hidden in the sound

Saw the Decemberists last night, with arjache. I am grateful for:
- an audience that is just fine with involuntary swing dancing to "A Cautionary Song"
- an incredibly competent sound team (one of whom managed to fix the line out on Colin Meloy's guitar with only a 15-minute delay)
- and getting to watch Meloy belt out "The Island." That's just beautiful, like watching the bartender at Vessel, or a really good machinist.

I've had illustration ideas burning a hole in my head all day. gfish, this is on some level YOUR FAULT.

Much obliged.

arjache went to get sodas, and saw that the bar was advertising a "Crane Wife" drink. It consisted of a vodka cran with Sierra Mist. "Ugh," we said, and "We could come up with a better drink."

A Crane Wife ought to be gin, Grand Marnier, Angostura bitters, and a bit of grenadine. Muddle all ingredients except grenadine over crushed ice. Add the grenadine last, in a slow pour, and do not mix before serving.

We're now trying to come up with a "Yankee Bayonet" that involves Southern Comfort.
