refilling

Dear kittybrains: no, no, no, the unfixed charcoal drawings are not for pawing. I guess I should go fix them, apres-smudge. Hmph.

Consumer whore, yesterday's edition:
Home Depot didn't actually have vermiculite (!??!!? oh, Home Depot...) but they DID have
1) fiberglass insulation (30'x2' roll for $3)
-or-
2) a mysterious, apparently carbon-based substance called Plumbers' Insulating Pad (18"x12" for $15... um, buh) which is sold to prevent people from doing more harm than good while brazing pipes. It claims to be as good of an insulator as fiberglass, while still being touchable by bare skin.

I don't know whether the insulating blankets sold for lampwork are made of fiberglass, or what. I can't actually find the damn things for sale online. So I bought a packet of the carbon padding, bearing in mind the stupid expense (this was before I discovered I wasn't getting any work done last night anyhow) and have yet to test it. Anyone have a guess on whether it'll work for cooling beads?

Consumer whore, today's edition: I found a book called "Drawing for Designers" at Kinokuniya. It is now sitting next to me on the couch. It is being helpful and informative.

I thought of something: shower notepads, because so many good ideas occur in the shower. Thinking grease pencil on acetate overhead sheets would do it. Still figuring out how to attach the sheets to the tiles. I want clips-on-a-suction cup, or something.
