no, i am *not* stealing this cart

From the department of New Stuff One Might Learn Every Day: if you deposit your ID with the Broadway QFC, and possibly others, they will unlock a cart for you and allow you to push your groceries home. This is exceedingly handy if you are buying more stuff than usual, but live close enough not to mind walking the cart back.

That's cool...although the only grocery stores I could do that with are Trader Joe's and Safeway.

I'll have to ask me Mum if they can do that at her store, the Safeway on 23rd & Madison. I've a suspicion it's not possible, as the sensors embedded in the perimeter auto-lock the carts' wheels. Boy, do they have some PISSED OFF people when that happens! :D

They had to take the cart out to the perimeter, wait for it to lock, then wave a Mysterious Device at the wheels to unlock it.

Maybe I'm just tired, but that's really funny.

Yeah, Slaveway has a Mysterious Device, too, but I meant I'd ask her if they let anyone take the carts if they leave an ID. I suspect not, since they're having such huge problems there with theft and miscreantism.

cooooool!

it would've never worked for me, because it would've involved some serious wrist pulling on the downhill slop, but it's PERFECT for you!

p.s. how's the kitty??

She is okay. She does not like Bella very much, but as long as they leave each other alone they're fine. (they are given to hissy growly bickering from time to time.) As I type she's curled up on the couch, surveying her domain.

Catsitting art_geek's kitty until the British government may reasonably be satisfied that she will not bring rabies into the UK and she won't have to suffer the quarantine period.
