I am so SO tired out, crabby, and generally hateful towards the universe by apartment hunting, and we've really only been at it in a concerted fashion for two days

I ordered them when my boss's seven-year-old daughter came in with the cookie form. I used to make MY dad bring it to work, so I felt sort of obligated.
I have one and a half boxes of Thin Mints left (earlier this evening, I had two boxes.... sigh...) so you can certainly have some if you want to get in touch somehow. Nobody really needs two boxes of thin mints...
Yup, if we end up going there... I said as we were going up Union, "hey, lumiere lives four blocks from here!"
We also have a big pile of possibilities in Green[wood|lake], but we're both skittish about depending entirely on the 5, the 48 and the 355 to get within half a mile of anywhere we regularly need to go.
The whole burbs/yard thing is so 1950's, though: now everyone seems to want condos and lofts, at least around here. People no longer have time for commuting or yardwork since everyone is two-job households with overtime.

My feelings are somewhere between urban and 50s-'burban. I want copious space for bookshelves, plants, and art desks (including a small shop setup) and natural light to facilitate all of those things. At the same time, I am offended by suburban "planning" that requires one to drive five miles to get some bread and milk; I want to be in reasonable walking or biking distance of a grocery store and a hardware store, with public transit to slightly more esoteric stuff.
It's hard for me to gauge "what everyone wants." Certainly a lot of little condos and lofts get built, and maybe that's because the bulk of the population doesn't have hobbies (which i guess is possible, but blows my mind...) and just wants somewhere to watch Project Runway when they get home from work. At the same time, cookie cutter two-story housing developments with O Blessed Garage Space continue to spawn like Tribbles on the Issaquah Plateau. What I'm not finding is the semi-urban medium between those poles.

Good luck with the apartment search, I know it can be a pain in the ass.

Maybe that's just me, though, since I consider 52nd and 15th NE in the Udist to be North Bumfuck...
