If something is filtered away from others/made unhackable, can those who aren't included in the filter see that there's a filter up and something there, just not know what's there?

It's been used both ways, so there's no real rule one way or another - it's pretty much up to the posting player's discretion as to whether other characters can be aware a filter exists.

Okay, thank you! Could you either leave this up or add it to the guide for future reference?

I hope this is alright, as I'm not currently part of the game but was thinking about apping

Is it possible for PCD's to accidentally record things? It might be useful for characters that are more reticent or anti-social. Or is everything strictly manual, like a real phone would be?

Accidental posts are more than possible! They're actually pretty common. :D; Common enough that it's even remarked on by characters that they have a weird tendency to turn on by themselves.

What happens to the PCDs of characters who die or leave the city (because they're dropped, are going back for a canon update, etc.)? Do they disappear to, or are they left lying around for other characters to find/use?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered elsewhere; I couldn't find anything.

The PCDs usually disappear when a character disappears. There's been a couple occasions when a character has been able to keep the PCD of another's when they disappear (because they were particularly close to them, had extensive CR, that sort of thing). That's really the only time that they don't vanish.

If they just die, their same PCD would still be there when they come back. Resetting, their old PCD would be gone, and they'd get a new one (so like disappearing, then).

This is probably a really minor odd question, but it's relevant to my situation.

When a user first activates their PCD, can they go back later and change the information they entered? Due to strange circumstances, the character I'm applying for doesn't have a name of his own yet but may obtain one in the future while in-game, and at the time of apping he's kind of touchy about the whole thing and might just angrily keysmash. So, basically, would PCD data for the operating individual be able to be changed?

And I suppose, additionally, is a person's name displayed when interacting with people on the network?

As I said, pretty small and strange questions, but if there's something to work with there it'd probably end up in my sample/intro post. :) Thanks!

Sure, that'd be fine!

And the PCD doesn't necessarily display their real name- it could be an alias or nothing or whathaveyou. People generally don't know each others' names without having to be told, even if individual PCDs can be identified- if that makes any sense?
