Evented Sebastian. Wednesday during morning hours hisbutlerbound September 15 2011, 23:47:13 UTC
Much like Sokka, the demon always kept himself busy. Before the event, he was a demon butler, constantly preparing for his master's return to Adstringendum, but now that the particular life was gone, he knew nothing of butlering and nothing of that obligation. Far less polite as his former butler self but just as charming "Sebastian" was a free demon to do whatever he pleased. Inlcuding preying upon people he hadn't quite met yet. Even if he wasn't going to eat them right away, it was always fun to scout out new ones.

So when that knife is thrown and it accidentally nearly hits him in the head during his 'practice', he won't even falsely smile to hide the smirk, "Oh my. That could've hurt."

Sokka had expected this morning to be peaceful, okay? He had left for his job at the forge with higher hopes than he'd had all week. At least, he did until he quite nearly found himself another job as a human pin cushion. At the sight of the close-passing knife, he had no immediate reaction. It wasn't until several seconds later that he realized all the implications of that passing moment.

He flailed his arms. "WHOA! Whoawhoawhoa, did you just throw a knife at me? In my direction? Was-- was that your blade?" He pressed a hand to his chest and Sokka could feel his heart racing.

Nothing was ever peaceful with Sebastian around. The knife so close to Sokka, having not thrown it that hard, was a perfect excuse to approach him. This was one of his neighbors. It would be beneficial to learn more about those that lived around him.

He wasn't one to lie either, "Yes, I believe I did throw it in your direction." He'd lean down to pluck the rather sharp throwing knife from the ground.

He took control of his breathing in an attempt to slow his heart a little, but Sokka looked stuck between angry and spooked. "Man, you gotta watch what you're doing! I mean if you're going to hunt or whatever, fine, but you can't just... throw knives at people!"

Another couple seconds, some panicked panting later and Sokka drops his hand from his chest and sighs out a long breath. After a moment to think, he looks at the other man and frowns a little. "Sorry, I didn't mean to freak out, but... knives. Death. All that."

Aw, but he liked it when he could hear the others heart beating so quickly. It was such a pleasing down. The demon flicked his knife in Sokka's direction, though he was sure not to throw it this time, as he talked, "You could but it would make things rather messy, especially if you prefered that sort of thing." Which the demon did.

He smiles rather serpentine and tilts his head like he understands, leaning a bit closer "Ah, it's alright. You fear death after all, don't you?"

Sokka looked unsure. "Uh, yeah, doesn't everyone?" It was normal to fear death in just about every place he'd traveled, though when he applied the same logic to Adstringendum, he found the fear wasn't quite so deep-seated. "It's not like it's easy to die. Or that you don't lose something. Or everything."

He eyed the knife again. "Why? Aren't you afraid of anything like that?" Sokka had a feeling that was the point, but he wanted to confirm it. The general population here consisted of one bad ass stacked on top of another, so it only made sense to Sokka this guy would probably not be too intimidated.

Sebastian chuckled and slipped the knife against his fingers, rubbing the edge of the sharp blade with one thumb. "I don't fear death, not even for a second." Sokka would be right. This place was filled with people of a higher caliber and while Sebastian was one of the few of an even greater standard, there were at least a handfull that could go toe to toe with him if they wished and give him a run for his money.

Still, the NorthWestern area was something Sebastian considered his territory and anyone on it was fair game. "Anything within this place is pointless. It's not where we should be."

"You can say that again," Sokka replied ruefully, though for the life of him, he couldn't think of where he did belong. There had been a time before Adstringendum, yes, but he failed to recall it with every attempt. Still, he knew the deal -- there was little to no chance anything gained or lost would matter when he did return home.

"What's your name? I'm Sokka." Because obviously the knife things was just a fluke, right?

Deep inside he knew he was waiting for someone or something, because more often than naught he heard something calling, even if it was faint and not something specific. His idle hands felt they needed to be busy so thus he practiced day and night and tried to keep himself occupied.

"Sebastian. I believe we are neighbors. Or at least I've seen you wandering in and out of the household." Were the knife a fluke, he would've never thrown it in the first place.

Sokka was going to hope it was a fluke anyway, especially since Sebastian said he lived nearby. The benefit of the doubt was not generally something Sokka spared on many, but living on Adstringendum experiences alone, he was much more willing to pass out... passes. Still, he seemed interested in knowing more about this person, specifically because they were neighbors.

"Yeah, I live here abouts," he confirmed, but that was only a half-truth. He'd been staying with a friend as of late. "What do you do? I work at the forge during the day."

Sokka would and could be reassured that Sebastian was not stalking him as prey or curiousity as he was not infact stalking him quite yet. Nor was he sure he was going to seeing as for now it just seemed like he was only human.

"Nothing really. A life of a demon is rather boring and even here it is doubled. I have many hobbies though, so I find some way to entertain myself." Said hobbles included stalking, maiming, killing, preying....and cats.

"Oh, well, that's kind of--" Wait. Did he say demon? Sokka's eyes widened and he stared at Sebastian, mouth agape. He'd seen some spirits, he'd seen some spirit guides, and even a spirit animal or two, but he can't say he's (knowingly) met a demon.

Sokka blinked and loosened his mouth with an awkward churning action of his lower jaw. "What kind of demon? Does that mean you're a bad guy?" Was it rude to ask? Probably. Sokka didn't seem to think so, though.

Had he still been a butler, he might've spared more care in keep that secret from those that still didn't know of it, but right now, he merely smirked and nodded.

"It depends on your definition of good or bad, but not often am I known or liked. Either way it would be a personal opinion."

angle_on_it September 21 2011, 23:41:21 UTC
"Right, right." Sokka nodded. His personal opinion unformed, he was relying on his perceptions, which said the guy was a little creepy but not exactly nightmare material. Add in a couple hundred viperbats, a lake of blood and some gloomy clouds, though, and it would be a start!

The young man rubbed his chin thoughtfully and eyed Sebastian. "Well, either way, we're all stuck here together, so at least we can say we've all got something in common. Not- not that it's all we have in common. I mean, I hardly know you, but we're both guys, right? So, obviously we have more than just that in common." Obviously.

Sokka would be wrong. Sebastian had only his instincts and aesthetics. He was evil in the finest degree and was only at bay due to a contract, but now that the master was gone, he was essentially a free man. Sokka simply hadn't heard enough about him. He had enjoyed being under Madara's control that week simply because he was able to kill.

The human had strange reasoning, "I suppose we have that in common." Sebastian took a step forward and began slowly circling Sokka. Decent build, yet lanky arms. He was thin with hardly any muscle, clearly an adolecent. He could't tell if he was intelligent or not.

Sokka raised an eyebrow, suddenly feeling as if he was under some sort of scrutiny. He crossed his arms over his chest, a half-conscious gesture, tilting his chin up. "Yeeeeah." Really, what else could he say?

The young man took in a deep breath. In another time and place, he would have snapped at Sebastian for his inspection, but none of that happened this time. He allowed for it, and when the demon came back around, he had to ask. "Something your looking for?" Because as far as he was concerned, there wasn't a whole lot to inspect that wasn't immediately obvious.
