Fox doesn't recognise this place at all, and when in doubt, search the place. It takes her a while to get the idea to move the concrete planter, and it takes a bit of doing to move it, too. Nonetheless, once she gets the key in hand she unlocks the door and steps inside, wondering what there is to see in here.

The house is empty, even if there are some lights on. The interior is as it has always been, however, the wood dark from age and candle smoke and whatever horrible memories stick to it. The smell of mold is strong at first, but the longer you stay inside, the more you grow used to it. It isn't cluttered inside, but it isn't exactly organized, either. Some books lay open on the chair in the corner or on the coffee table in the middle of the living room, and random papers are scattered in the same areas. There are few pictures on the wall, though one seems to be a family portrait, hanging crookedly on the wall above the fireplace ( ... )

There's got to be a logical progression through the house, and Fox intends to investigate in that order. Especially with the somewhat screwy nature of space lately, she wants to keep an eye on where she's been and where she's going. She heads for the nearest sound of voices, though, keen on investigating and finding out more about the house's inhabitants.

The door to the study on her right is closed, but unlocked, and those voices are inside, though if Fox gets closer, she'll realize that the woman's voice has become higher-pitched, as if she were suddenly younger. The man's is the same, though.

The volume is the same, except for numerous pauses filled with an uncomfortable silence.

She reaches out to open the door, wondering what she'll find behind it. The idea of privacy still hasn't really occurred to her, nor would she respect it if it had. She'd just be a bit sneakier about doing precisely what she's doing.

When she opens the door, Fox will see a disheveled man standing up behind his desk, a long finger pinning a piece of paper to that desk. There is a doodle on it of some sort, though it's intricate, a circle with various additions and other geometric shapes drawn carefully on and inside it.

In front of the desk is a young girl, no older than ten years old, with blonde hair cut short to her head, her hands held in front of her. Neither of them seem to notice her.

The man speaks. "You know what these symbols mean."

"Yes, Father."

"You've studied them intently, made sure there were no mistakes"Yes ( ... )

Fox understands this sort of interaction all too well. She doesn't think anything of it, certainly not that it might be anything abnormal. Her father pushed her hard, too, and for all the times she disagreed with him, she can't say that she doesn't appreciate the results it produced.

She turns and leaves again, following through the house after the next source of voices.

Past the stairs is the dining room, and taking a left will lead into the kitchen. But there are two people sitting at the dining table, some papers pushed off to the far, unused end as they eat. Riza is there, though she is a few years older now, and she is joined by a boy, only a couple years older than her. He has dark, short hair, though it's a little messy and doesn't seem to want to lay right. He starts the conversation ( ... )

Fox watches the scene play out, and all thoughts of going through the house in a logical order go out of her mind. She still wouldn't say there's anything wrong with the way this family works, but it certainly does pique her interest. She's headed for the stairs, intent on tracking down this man that is the blonde's father. This...should be interesting.

Should Fox go upstairs, she will find that the doors up there are locked, though there will a heavy air throughout. It is uncomfortable there, and behind one door, there may even be the sounds of choked sobs, among other unhappy sounds.

Fox eyes that door behind which the sobs are coming from. Then she gives herself room, and starts kicking the door really, really hard at the hinges, starting at the bottom one. She's going to give it her damnedest to kick it in.

The sobbing stops with a gasp as soon as Fox starts kicking the door, though it doesn't open. A weak voice of a girl then pipes up, though it's obvious she's the one who's been crying.

"Who...who is it?" The voice belongs to Riza, but she sounds even older now, around sixteen years old.

"Someone who's concerned. Are you okay in there?" She pauses to call through the door. "What's going on?"

The voice on the other side pauses, though she breathes heavily, and there are quiet footsteps approaching the door.

"...What's your name?"

"It's Fox. What's the matter? You're breathing heavy, are you injured?" She figures she can still kick the door in if the woman is too injured to come unlock it.

"No."

She doesn't speak for a few moments, trying to keep her breathing under control.

"Please leave."
