Summary: No one really knows what Ed's been through. Even now, in his dreams, he tries to keep it a secret.

It takes Edward a moment. He stiffens, glaring a challenge at Roland before he manages to smile softly. "Hey. What are you doing out here?"

Ed's had a hard few days. The best they could do was sleep on hard ground and rocks. "Eventually, Central. Only problem is we can get there before spring. So... " He just shrugs, giving a rueful smile. "We're just taking the scenic route."

"Yeah, Ling and a couple others are here." He motioned absently behind him, but there doesn't appear to be anyone there. Maybe they were in the trees?

"I guess you're coming with us, huh? No sense in getting you locked up by the military, either."

[saintedsinner]

"We're considered deserters," he supplied, starting the hike back up. "We don't want the king in power anymore-he's the bad guy-and the military is siding with the king. So we're in hiding until we can defeat him. The problem is there's a timing issue."

He caught the frown but chose to ignore it. "Yeah. Gotta wait until the Promised Day." He frowned a bit then. "It's a solar eclipse."

"I guess it's because they're promising our country will be destroyed." He really didn't give much thought about it. He just knew that Father was a maniac and probably got off on naming shit ridiculous names.

[saintedsinner]

"Somewhat. The guy that the king works for. Big Badass calls himself Father, and he made this human looking creatures called homunculi. They've infiltrated the military, from the King on down and ... " Ed gave a rueful look to their surroundings. "Well. Here we are."
