Characters: Usagi/Sailor Moon/Serenity (buntails) and YOU When: March 6th - 12th Where: Usagi's Dreamscape Rating: PG - R for violence, depending Summary: The genki girl, the soldier, and the princess
Rhode wanders the hall of games--there's nothing like this in her time and age, but it's close enough to a carnival feel. and in the logic of dreams, she figures out how to play them easily enough. But as amusing as trying the Sailor V sidescroller of the dating sim and UFO catcher are, something keeps pulling her away from the bright lights and color of the gaming hall, to peek into the dim hallway.
The sign on the doors is ignored as Rhode leaves the games behind, glancing from door to door until one catches her attention. This is what drew her here--locked and barred. Chained shut and hidden away. This isn't meant for anyone to enter, and of course, in her way, Rhode has to see what's on the other side.
In the logic of dreams that is not entirely logic, Rhode lifts her hand, her own form of magic manifesting as purple energy around her fingers, with which she intends to blast the door out of her way.
"Don't open it." The voice is calm but insistent, almost pleading. These are not even just secrets behind that door; they are things Usagi - Princess Serenity - deliberately shut out of her mind. They are things that should not come to light.
But neither Serenity nor Usagi is here to stop it. She has always been open and giving, and so the lock on this door should always have been enough. It isn't; the first blast already starts to shake it.
Rhode ignores the voice. Doesn't respond as she hits it again with dark energy. And a third time. And then kicks at it with one inhumanly strong strike.
She hates things being locked away and denied. It's always more interesting to see what comes to like when it's been so carefully hidden.
Everyone is laughing and talking in the background. Meanwhile, the senshi (unmistakable even at this age, though they seem to be no more than children) kneel before the queen who carries a baby in her arms. They swear fealty to the infant and promise to protect her with their lives. They look forward to her becoming queen in her turn some day.
The infant is equally unmistakable; her hair is even done up in that signature style already, tiny buns.
Rhode huffs a little, stepping into the room. The sensation of dreaming someone else's dreams is still odd to her at this point, but she's not above exploiting and exploring what she finds here.
The scene only gets a passing curiosity though. Something clearly doesn't want this remembered, but so far she sees no reason to lock it away.
For a moment Rhode assumes the words are for her. And it surprises her a bit, because people don't tend to be so aware in their dreams. But then she realizes the child is talking to another figure. Turning to look at the woman Rhode steps out of the way, watching curiously.
It's an old, old, story: light and darkness. The senshi surround the baby princess as the Queen confronts their visitor, who claims to be from the moon's cold dark.
You need me, Queen. The Light needs the Darkness. After all, you come from a far-off place, too, the same place I do.
The words and smugly outstretched hands are refused. The dark woman, the dark queen of the Dead Moon, is sealed away to plan her vengeance for thousands of years - but not before she leaves her curse.
"The princess will never take the throne." The senshi gasp in horror; the princess starts to cry.
"Typical." Rhode watches the scene in disgust. Such arrogance and self-righteousness. What fools. So smug in their glory and their goodness, with no idea of reality or balance.
"Reaching out was pointless." She speaks to the memory of the dark woman, not expecting a reply.
No reply comes; Queen Nehellenia is already imprisoned. The Silver Millenium will end when the princess is still young, before she even reaches adulthood.
But she will be reborn, Tsukino Usagi. The immortal beings of the Moon are easy to reincarnate and revive. Whether it's a fulfillment of Nehellenia's curse, or Fate, it seems to be long dead and forgotten.
It's the future that holds Nehellenia's return, and Usagi can't even dream of what she's never dreamed of. It's Usagi herself who must one day learn that lesson, that Light and Dark are halves of a whole born in the same place. It's Usagi herself who must one day reach out her hand to Chaos.
Rhode shakes her head and steps back, finding herself once again in the hallway. That rejection of the dark queen makes her a little grumpy, and instead of heading back towards the games, she looks at the other doors here, trailing her finger over walls and doors as she walks along.
Of course Rhode's drawn to the door that's quiet. Quiet can mean so many things. Some of them boring, but she's curious all the same, pushing the door open to peer inside and see what it will reveal.
Caught! Serenity startles the second Rhode opens the door.
This is because someone has actually caught her by the pigtails before she can finish sneaking off. Oh, Jupiter. Serenity has the grace to look as sheepish as Usagi. The poor princess is in for quite a lecture: about safety from Venus, about studies from Mercury.
None of them seem willing to let a poor girl go explore Earth. If only there were some diversion...
Rhode is mildly amused. Not that she's sympathetic, but she does know how boring it is to have to play the proper princess--she's just lucky her family generally lets her wander off as she pleases.
She watches the scene hands still on the doorframe, tapping her foot in hopes of something exciting coming up.
It won't occur to her until she wakes up that a girl wanting to explore Earth is a bit odd.
But she does. She's loved that beautiful planet hanging in the sky for as long as she can remember. She watches it there, she watches it on viewscreens. She dreams of it, of the fresh winds and flowing waters instead of the artificial climates of the Moon.
Finding love there had been unexpected, but when she loved the planet, how could she not love its prince, who embodied everything else wonderful about it?
Sure enough, by the time she extricates herself from her guardians and goes to Earth, she lingers by a pond where she slips her shoes off and wets her feet.
Then he comes, a prince in black armor with dark hair and the bluest eyes - the same blue as his beautiful planet seen from the moon, she's called them before.

Or, if Rhode looks behind her, it turns out the words are directed to a tall, lovely figure stepping out from the shadows.

Laughter and celebration come from behind one again; but it holds a different quality. It will be the ball of the night the Silver Millenium ended.
Soft, romantic music seems to play from behind another; a secret meeting between Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion.
And another is strangely quiet, because Serenity, like all good teenagers, is sneaking out.
