Characters: Yuca Collabell (neverquitedies) AND YOU
When: Throughout the week of the event
Where: Yuca's secluded flower garden/hidey-hole.
Rating: PG-13 ish?
Summary: The empathy event occurs. Yuca instantly makes everyone in Adstring want to kill themselves.
Yuca doesn't notice the event's start. He doesn't notice much of anything anymore, not when he has his garden to work on. The PCD is temporarily ignored as he pulls weeds from the fresh dirt he's slaved over, nurtures the shoots of flowers just barely poking above the ground, making trips to the lake and back to get water so that they can prosper in this warm Summer. He doesn't realize the emotion he's pushing out, but the sheer volume of it is almost staggering.
It can be felt blocks away- a deep abyss of loneliness that spans across time and lives. A harrowing depression, a despair intense enough to promote any sane man to find the nearest building to jump off of. Emotions like this aren't possible to come by in one life, no matter how sad that life may be- no, it's a culmination of every lifetime: thousands of losses, hundreds of dead lovers and friends, a million betrayals, the guttural feeling of being murdered at the hands of friends, enemies, fathers, nameless men on battlefields. Endless faces and names running together like drops of rain, lives intertwining and tangling, so numerous that one or two didn't really matter all that much in the grand scheme of things.
And the worst feeling of all- the mind-numbing realization that it won't end. That it'll keep going, keep building, no matter what you do. It'll continue on and on for an eternity, and there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.
Yuca, for his part, doesn't show it at all. It's always there, that knowledge, and he's learned over time to deal with it, to push on and smile and pretend to be a priest for the masses. Learned over time to block it out, to alienate himself from people to prevent at least a small part of his loss.
And now it can be felt by anyone who comes near him.
Not that Yuca particularly notices, not yet. He's just busy caring for his flowers.
