Boss finally got to going down the elevator. He needed to use it for several days now, but was afraid to go in it after the last time. Getting stuck in that elevator was the hardest thing he had to do in his entire life. It was just... It was the worst ( ... )

As soon as Hawke heard that voice-no, before he heard the voice, he knew he wasn't alone. A split second later he swerved, bending at the knees in preparation to defend himself from... an oddly dressed man. And he was very agitated. Hawke straightened, still cautious about the other, but sensing his wasn't a threat.

As an after though, he hooked his perceived weapon back onto its belt and tilted his head to the side in question. "I do not wish to harm you." He'd never seen the man before. And from the way he looked in terms of muscle and posture, he was clearly not a fighter.

Boss let out a small sigh of relief and shut his eyes. Good, it was a friendly Indian. That was a huge weight off his mind.

He lowered his hands, though his posture was still slightly stiff. Something really weird was going on. "Phew. Alright... Good. You're a good guy." He did a quick thumbs-up in the direction of the Indian.

Just then, he had the chance to really think about his situation. But the man in front of him was an Indian, so he would know the area. Indians had a sixth sense about them, where they could just... know everything around them, just like that.

"Hey, maybe you could tell me how to get to the scrapyard. It's a big place, it's full of lots of metal, and things, and... There's a ton of stuff there. Do you think you could tell me which direction I need to go?" Boss had relaxed by then, speaking politely and in a casual tone.

Hawke wasn't certain how to take this man. He used hand gestures he wasn't familiar with, spoke with a casualty that meant the man knew him? Perhaps it was his nervous nature trying to soothe him.

"There are ruins in the city that have much metal," he offered softly, still watching the other and trying to get a handle on body cues as well as the verbal ones. It was almost as if he was from Earth, where his birth family was. Sometimes they carried these odd, silent conversations too. "What is it that you seek?"

Sylvar was healed enough to walk and feel restless, and... she felt reckless enough to shrug at the warning and go to look at this place. And so she did. She moved more slowly and less silently than normal, thanks to the cane she sometimes needed to lean against, and one eye was bandaged.

The sky here, how strange it seemed. It occurred to her that she did not remember any sky before Edensphere. She wondered why it was that she felt uneasy, whenever she saw a naked sky. It was almost enough to make her miss the approaching man.

A human man. Sylvar stared at him, yellow eye unblinking, trying to evaluate how threatening he might be. After a moment, she spoke.

"I do not mean to harm you, stranger." Her accent was almost Russian, the rs rolled.

The sounds her words made were like his own, and Hawke held his breath for a moment. There was no way she was Faunlyn, especially from Earth Mountain. His jaw worked for a moment in unease, then he stood straighter, pulling some stray hairs away from his face. At any rate, she was injured, and no threat to him.

"I am called Hawke."

Her features stabbed at his heart. They were similar to his adoptive family's, and yet different. He'd have to be careful not to fall into his native tongue. As it was, he was already using the subtle gestures used by the Faunlyn to communicate. It was amazing what a little familiarity could do for a person.

At his voice she gave one of her rare genuine blinks, surprised.

"I have chosen Sylvar," she said evenly, positioning the cane in front of her, both hands wrapped loosely around it. It didn't look as if she would have to fight, which was good. She would have needed to call on the Force, and that would have been draining.

After a moment, she continued. "I am from the tree, the world called Edensphere. And I am aware that information is dangerous to me. But I must ask. From where do you hail? If I appear familiar to you, what species do I seem to be?"

"I come from Earth Mountain," he amended quickly, "Which is not here. This place is called Adstringendum." Direct and to the point. She didn't hold any of the human traits of 'beating around the bushes,' and he liked that.

"You look like Faunlyn, my people. But," there was a small smirk at this, "you have no tail. Or hooves." Yes, she may look a little like them, but he knew she was not one of them. "You were injured. Has your healer say that you were well enough to move?"
