Summary: It's not easy keeping a team balanced, and after Kakashi's comments about Tenten feeling left out, it's time for the three to talk.
Despite half-formed intentions to sleep in for once, Lee stirred just before dawn. Even after months of living in Adstringendum, where missions were mostly a forgotten part of the past, years of rising early for training had his internal clock programmed to wake before dawn even when it'd be nice not to. He cracked an eye open, judging the amount of light in the sky- just enough to tint it a soft gray- and sighed.
It'd be nice to have a lazy morning. They were rare enough, between Lee's training habits and Neji's carefully maintained habit of only staying over with him once or twice a week. Lee's arms tightened briefly around the Jounin, and he muffled a sigh against Neji's shoulder. He hadn't expected Neji to slip into his room the night before, tense and worried and silent, staring with blank eyes at the wall until Lee prompted him to talk.
He could see why Neji was worried, though. They'd both been trying to make certain that Tenten didn't feel excluded, but things were different.Different than they'd been at home, and different than when Lee had first arrived, too. But at least that horrible tension wasn't there, with the lingering feeling that at any moment the wrong word might shatter bonds forged over years as teammates.It wasn't easy to keep everything balanced, and the last thing Lee wanted was for Tenten to feel like she was an afterthought.
He squeezed Neji tighter. "We should to get up," he murmured.
