Winry was glad for the opportunity to meet more people, and with the dinner being at Havoc's she knew the way and thus wouldn't get lost. She had tried to persuade Ed and Al to come along with her, and paused as she had knocked and entered, looking around for anyone she knew already.

The idea of having dinner with others was comforting. Sure, she had Granny back home, and Den, but this was different. She was with the brothers again, and had the chance to meet all kinds of new people from all over now. She wanted to make the most of it.

Havoc looked over from the table he was at currently making sure that everything was going as planned - or as planned as possible - when he hears the knock at the door.

He walks over and opens it, smiling widely at Winry, "Welcome! Welcome, Miss Rockbell, come on in!"

He steps to the side, holding the door open for her, "Grab some food, have a drink, all that sorta stuff, you're here before a few others!"

Winry gave a smile when Jean had let her in, answering the door. "Hi! Ed and Al should be coming, I think. This was really nice of you to have us over, thank you!" Of course, she wanted him to know she appreciated all he had done, for her when she had first arrived and for everyone else like this. It really was nice of him to offer to have everyone stay for dinner at his place and all.

Winry nodded and entered, obeying and making her way to the drinks, taking one to sip on as her gaze wandered to the others. She figured everyone else would probably still be on their way.

Jean's smile stayed plastered to his face. He was truly happy that people WERE showing up, and that one of them just so happened to be the nicest person he'd met from Resembool since Alphonse. Jab at Ed? Sure it was but he liked his boss anyway too, "No problem Miss Rockbell. It's about time we all got together and had some fun right?."

He closes the door so the cold won't come in, the tables are along the walls in the modestly large kitchen/living room area with food and drinks and places to sit that look hand made from planks of wood and round pieces of tree trunk cut for the legs, "So how've you found Adstring so far?"

The mechanic couldn't help but return the other's smile, such things were contagious, she thought to herself, pleased that people were showing up and that Havoc seemed to be enjoying himself as their host of sorts for the evening. "Yeah, it is. It's a good way to meet everyone, since I'm so new around here still. And it's nice to get together like this, all of us from Amestris and all." she said with a nod of agreement.

She sat down with her drink, taking another sip before she answered his question. "Well, it's...different. I still find it a little disconcerting, especially hearing that I've apparently been here before, but I'm sure I'll get used to it in time while we try and figure a way back." she said, cradling her drink in her lap for the moment.

Jean took a seat not too far from her but not crowdy either and listened to what she had to say in response to his question. So far from the few times He'd spoken with her she was one of those pleasant people to speak with.

He smiled a little sadder looking smile at 'figuring a way back' and then chuckled softly, "Well. Once we get back we won't remember here. I met some pretty nice people around these parts. But!" He stood up and stretched his shoulders back, he still had a little stiffness in them, "That's why we make the best of it right?"

Havoc, so far as Winry had experienced, was genuinely a nice man, despite what Ed may have said about him being something of a womanizer. She didn't so much mind that, she doubted the Lieutenant would try anything, and if he did, well, she had her wrench if it came down to that.

She looked to her cup in her lap at him saying they wouldn't remember Adstring when they got home. "I see. I guess that makes sense that I don't remember being here before but others seem to know me then." she said softly. "But, you're right, that's why we should make the most of meeting all these people, we otherwise wouldn't get this opportunity back home, right?"

Sorry 2AM in havoc land lol *facepalm* 2ndlt_jeanhavoc November 28 2009, 09:00:39 UTC
If Jean was after jailbait he has a young lady already interested in sending him to the bighouse! So Winry's absolutely safe. He'd deserve the wrench if he tried it anyway. He'd say it himself.

Despite that little fourthwall tidbit, Jean put his hands behind his head and nodded a few times when she 'Right'ed him, "That's exactly right. Ma used t'say you enjoy the day you're in 'cause its the only one you've got for that day. ..Ma was a confusing woman sometimes."

Winry was certain if Ed caught on that Havoc had or was going to try anything, he would likely deal with it in his way as well. Probably loudly and violently, knowing him. But he certainly had not seemed too pleased when Winry had mentioned the guy had offered her to stay at his place.

"Heh. She was a very wise lady then, she was right too. And you never know what the next day will bring, that could change everything you know, or think you know, today." she murmered, looking to the side slightly, a softer expression on her features before she took another sip of her drink.

Indeed xD it makes for a dozy Havoc 2ndlt_jeanhavoc November 28 2009, 10:07:57 UTC
Jean moved one of his hands to fix a bit of his stray hair out of his eyes while he smiled - his Ma would have been all over being called wise, "By the sounds of that comment, Ma wasn't the only smart lady I have th'pleasure of knowing. You're right too." He sets his arms down.

"But for the time being, we have the opportunity to make today the best we can. I intend on it, and intend not to depress ya anymore with Ma's crazy talk. Later once things settle down and once the boss gets here I'll bring out the girls. They're asleep in my room right now." His voice adds that it's not a place people are going to go and especially not a young woman without a chaperon.

"Of course I am!" Oh yes, one way to get in Winry's good books was to compliment her. On her appearance, or her work, or anything. She loved it, eating up the praise like a sponge. It was a tactic Ed tried to use when he knew she would be really annoyed at him, usually after having broken his arm.

"The girls? Oh, alright then, that sounds fine." Winry said with a nod, understanding the underlying messages that Havoc was sending. She was used to things being left unsaid but conveyed through the words between the lines, underlying meanings with dealing with Ed and Al for so long after all.

Havoc smiled. Yep. She may have been in a predominantly male field of expertize but she was still a woman and women loved their compliments. He didn't mind complimenting as long as that's all she expected were compliments and not flirts.

His smile stayed on his lips when she seemed fine with their arrangement and he'd make good on it too, he loved showing off his little new additions. If they weren't sleeping he'd have them at the door every time he went over to it. With a look upward again at said door, speak of the devil, he turned back to her, "Well, Miss Rockbell if there's anything you want, let me know. I'll be waiter Havoc for tonight. Excuse me please. Feel free to go nudge some of the people y'dont know around here, anyone's showed up so far are all real kind people."

With that he got up to go answer the door to the new arrival.

Seeing Winry here seemed to make the scale of their situation real to him. There were so many people from 'back home'.

"Miss Rockbell." He said as he wandered up beside her, hands in his pockets - mostly because it was difficult to know how to react to her. He'd learned a long time ago that sometimes it was difficult to know how to act around real people.

Winry turned her head to face the Colonel when she heard her name. "Oh. Hello, Colonel Mustang!" she had heard of Mustang over the years recently, mostly from Ed complaining about such missions the man sent him on when he did decide to call, but mostly when she saw him for maintenance. Ed was horrible at keeping in touch like that.

"I heard you were here too, from Mr Havoc. How long have you been here?"

He offered a very slight wave of his hand when she turned to look at him, accompanied with a smile. He was as polite as he could manage - knowing a lot more about Winry and Ed than either of them would probably appreciate. The fuhrer had made things very clear, though.

"Ah, Let's see - not too long. Perhaps... a few weeks?"

"Is that all? I heard some have been here for much longer and still haven't gotten back. Al said he'd been here for months already. It's still wierd, I feel like I didn't seem him and Ed all that long ago when here they are...." she said with a small sigh. This was still so wierd, and she was still trying to get her head around it.

"It's good to have you here though, and Mr Havoc and the others, I mean. At least now I might get to know you all better, and we have some help, if we stick together here."
