(
Itachi is so lazy, making clones do all the work... )
Running over a couple of rooftops, Tenten was soon overlooking the scene. How many clones was that? And tearing apart buildings? She didn't know what he was up to, and she didn't trust him. Jiraiya-sama still hadn't told her the story of why so many seemed fine with Itachi. Broken wood. What could that be used to make? Should she report in? Or just observe? He was more capable than her, of that she was certain.
She flipped a kunai in her hand, hesitating. The one thing that was certain was that she couldn't take him in a fight. Not alone. Tenten decided to watch. If something dangerous was being made or done, she would know. And then she could contact Neji and Kakashi.

There was a suitable place nearby from what he remembered and he made it a point to head off towards that direction. He wasn't concerned about leaving his clones, they were of his doing, they would not falter. It only took so much chakra to make them perfect. He was about to make a leap onto a roof when he sensed a strange disturbance. The Uchiha froze.
Someone was trying to hide their chakra but were no match for him. It only took him a few more seconds before his eyes went red and he slowly lifted his gaze.
There she was, the kunoichi watching him. He stared back blankly.

One of them started walking away, and her gaze followed it for a moment before she turned her attention back to the many. That probably was the real Itachi, walking away, but he'd set his clones to a task. The task held the importance. But then he stopped, and Tenten looked over at him again.
When he started looking up, Tenten shifted her gaze to his feet. It was what Sensei always talked about - watch the feet of a sharingan user. There was no doubt she'd been spotted, though. Tenten swallowed. She could run, but there was a decent chance he was faster, despite her training. And running meant she might come across him at a corner and not be looking down.
Kakashi and Jiraiya were fine with him being around Sasuke. There was something else beneath the surface here. She frowned and made her decision, standing up. The kunai were still ready in her hands just in case. "What are you doing? Destroying at least one building..." She wasn't getting the direct point yet, what he was doing with Sasuke, but this was a start. If he answered this, she would see. Or he could attack.
Her PCD was in reach too, if she needed it.

There were several ways to approach a curious intruder, especially when their very curiosity was what inevitably landed them in a predicament like this. They were naturally eager to know and it left their minds very open to manipulation. He would, however, respect his brother's wishes to keep himself out of trouble, no matter how entertaining it might get. At least that's how he will start by giving the girl a chance. Her own safety would rest solely in her hands.
"I may destroy several if I see fit. Bonfire's take a large amount of wood."
And there she had it, a very blunt clue to his plans. Did he seemed bothered? Of course not, if it didn't put her at ease it would at least keep her mind occupied. It wasn't in Itachi's nature to simply give out the answers, people wouldn't learn anything that way.

Bonfire? That did fit. They were all going after wood. A bonfire wasn't a direct threat, either. And the why could easily relate to the topic of the week - it was getting colder. It could really be harmless.
And then again, he had killed almost his entire clan. It could be the opposite of innocent.
"The obvious reason is warmth. But things aren't often that obvious around here. Are they today?"

"It may take a few days. Finding the appropriate wood is not the challenge, finding a place to place the pyre's is."
A group of clones had just successfully destroyed a warehouse and they were starting to move the wood into the other standing warehouse for storage. He turned to look at Tenten and frowned.
Were they back home in their world, he would have made it a clear point to intimidate her, show her exactly why she should run away when she stumbled across him, but for now Sasuke had told him to keep a low profile. Now, trying to lure her into a warehouse with countless clones of himself would be intimidating. Itachi, in his sick humor, found it entertaining. Not to mention, she would learn he wasn't too bad.
"People can be quite picky when it comes to where they want to sleep."

"I guess it would be, so you don't wind up burning down the city."
Movement caught her eye as the clones shifted gears. They weren't headed her way yet, and she didn't sense anything behind her. Tenten wasn't looking at his face to see his expression; she had little to go on.
"You're wanting to sleep in there? A warehouse? I thought you had some place already." Though warehouse walls might hold in heat well. She wasn't sure. "Or are you trying to find a place for you and Sasuke?"
