(
Please imagine witty here. )
"Hello! I don't believe we've officially introduced ourselves. I'm Rain."
Reply
"Vincent Valentine."
Vincent's eyes suddenly stopped scanning the area, staring at a point behind Rain's shoulder.
"What was following you ?"
Reply
He shrugs and runs a hand idly through his hair.
"One of the monsters, I think. It may still be after me--I'm not too sure. At any rate, it's good to meet you, Vincent. I've seen you around before--several times. But we've never spoken--except at the picnic."
Reply
"If it was a giant tarentula, then it's not just still after you. It's found you."
He took Cerberus from the holster and checked the clip for ammunition, before grabbing the fire Materia and equipping the gun with it.
"What's your fighting style ?"
He might have just met the guy, but that was no reason to accidentally shoot him.
Reply
He put his hands to his sides and shifted his feet around. What little he knew about fighting was that weight should be distributed evenly. A noise like a growl came from behind Rain and he turned around.
"I guess you're going to find out how I fight, anyway."
Reply
"... Just try not to get shot."
An impulsion and he was airborn, Cerberus spitting out its Fire Materia-enhanced bullets. For a few seconds, he was only a whilrwind of red tendrils, shooting fire, and once he was close enough, the gun went back to the holster and Vincent went at it hand to hand.
He didn't show this side often, not even to friends. That side of him that was, at times, hungry for blood, wanting to hurt something, to get back at the world for all the pain he'd been through. He usually had better control over it.

"Ah--"
But there was no time for that. The creature leaped towards him--finally coming out of hinding and quite frankly upset by Vincent's bullets. Rain reacted by punching straight out at the monster's head and sent it off and up, so that Vince could get a better shot.

It didn't take much longer for the creature to finally die down with a last, deep shiver of its hairy body, and Vincent landed on the ground again, eyes still scanning the area.
"Any more of them around ?"
Reply
He sighs and relaxes his form.
"Thank you, Vincent. Would you like to get something to eat?"
Reply
"... You can eat if you're hungey."
That probably came out as rather more abrupt that it was intended, but Vincent had let go of the ritual sharing of food with friends quite some time ago.
Reply
He shifted. This fellow's not very social at all...
Reply
So he simply nodded, and started walking, his steps taking him closer to the edge of the Safezone.
Reply
He spoke casually and softly, because they were on the very edge of the Safezone. But perhaps Vincent wanted to attract monsters. One way or another, Rain was glad he was at least with someone else.

It had really been that long. It hadn't felt like that, but then, few things felt long when you'd spent 35 years sleeping in a coffin, really.
"And like many people, I was ... in the middle of something when I arrived."
Reply
He smiled at the thought of running away and living in the old hideaway.
"I'd really like to get back and finish..."
Reply
... he'd never really had that conversation with Yuffie about what had happened next.
"I think most of us want to go back ... but some would rather stay."
