Really, he welcomed the prospect of a walk on such a lovely day. "Lovely" was a touch relative, since the bit of the sky directly overhead might be a beautiful sort of bluish-purple, but there were clouds to the left, and looking not very far to either side revealed blackish-green storm clouds mounting like bruises in the sky, occasionally broken by a sullen violet flash of lightning. The thunder did not reach past the chaotic rifts to the deserted street where Antryg strolled, but the look of the clouds was more than ominous enough to send a chill through him. He looked away, making note of the strange jumble of deserted buildings he passed as a distraction from the oppressive reality of the multiverse's destruction.

The sight of a brick flowerbox, tucked incongruously between a bit of wire-chain fencing and a six-foot stretch of cobblestone pavement, brought sudden brightness to his expression. It was nice to see something living in this city, after all! A lanky-legged few strides brought him up next to the flowers, and he brushed a hand over them lightly, pleased. The shapes and colors were unfamiliar, but the scent he breathed in from one small spiky orange blossom reminded him of the flowers that bloomed on the Sykerst near the beginning of summer. The ones he knew were small, and leggy, almost grasses except for the bright blue star-shaped blooms... but their scent had the same spiciness. He plucked it on a whim, and tucked it behind his ear, grinning a bit more dementedly than usual as he hurried down the street to make his appointment with Miss Alessa on time.
