Carmen showed up, elegant in her typical red, with no doubt showing on her face. She was fairly certain Saul would not show up, and without her closest ally, this was far more of a risk. Armor was not her style. She knew nothing of fighting. Running was her defense, running and slipping away.

With outward calm, she nodded to Madara. "The rest of my men should be arriving shortly. We will aid you in getting to the wall, and in getting in, and shall remain outside. So long as it is possible, we will also keep the entry point clear for you to depart the city safely." If such a thing was possible. She didn't think Madara was going to succeed at much in this. After all, the scientists had to be ready for the attempt. He'd spoken of it on the network.

Madara didn't expect Carmen to fight during this mission. She did not have a fighter's body nor did she seem like a person who could defeat a large amount of enemies with only her own skills. Yes, she was intelligent and Madara respected her to an extent, but she was no ninja. Her only use was to keep the attention away from him at the mission began.

"Alright. My men should be on their way was well. And as soon as Deidara arrives, we'll be able to start. If anyone is late, I've already briefed them on what is to be expected of them."

Carmen nodded in acknowledgment. She knew which one was Deidara - he was the loud blond. It would be easy to watch for him. Though she did hope that some of her men arrived shortly. It would not do to be completely alone with this group, nor was she entirely safe from the guards if her men did not show.

"Excellent. I have spoken to mine as well, and we are prepared. Should I hold any message for those that may straggle of yours?" This also would give her a chance to see the Akatsuki in motion, observe their dynamic. She knew they didn't seem to get along on the network, but that could be a facade.

"No messages are needed. They know everything that they need to know at this point. The only thing you and your group need to do is cover us as we enter the city."

Carmen would be getting a front row seat to what the Akatsuki was capable of tonight. She was in for quite the show if everything went according to plan.

Killua had told Gon he'd be gone. He hadn't said exactly why, but he hadn't lied either, and that was better than anyone else in Adstring could ever hope from him. But Carmen was the one who gave them a place to stay, after all, and if she wanted help, he was ready. He wasn't going to turn down a situation in which he could further experiment with his abilities. He had yet to even use that new technique on anyone. He wouldn't know the effect it'd have on a person until he actually tried it on a person. The only reason he wasn't taking Gon with him was because Gon hadn't seen that technique either, and he really didn't want to have to explain why ( ... )

Carmen was rather unimpressed by what she had seen thus far. It was fairly clear they hated each other. Certainly she did not like Kurotsuchi, and was ready for him to turn on her at any moment, but there was respect there. Here... what power did Madara have over the Akatsuki that they served him? She could see no ties.

"Understood. That will not be difficult."

At Killua's sudden appearance Carmen did not blink or show any startlement; she was too well-trained for that. It was a surprise nonetheless, and impressive. He had speed, or some way of invisibility. "Killua. Thank you for arriving. This is Madara. He and his men are going into the city, we will be holding position outside it."

"'Kay," he replied nonchalantly to her explanation, dropping his hands into his pockets. He eyed Madara warily, making sure to keep closer to Carmen. He didn't mind that they weren't going inside, just as long as whoever this was ended up being on the opposite side of the wall.
