Hawke came up to the clinic with a shoulder pack of items they may need. It was never good to go to a meat dressing party without appropriate knives and other items for stringing meat to dry. And he was used to strong magic, so the feeling of power radiating from the small group did not phase him. The call of blood made his own heart pump harder in reaction. Oh, yes, there was a lot of meat, and he was certain he'd be wearing the blood of the kills for days after.

What he wasn't expecting was the sight of the dragon. His eyes lifted up in utter awe for the creature, unafraid that she was there. For a moment, he forgot that he was helping to cure and dry meat, and blinked, looking over to Unohana with a small nod.

He seemed dressed for the occasion, for the most part. The blond had his hair tied back tightly, and all he wore was the wrap around cloth--which were low on his hips-- and his sandals. He walked up to the group and bowed formally, seemingly unconcerned with the blood on the ground already creeping towards his feet like living snakes.

"I am here."

Sesshoumaru looked cooly at the newcomer. He was dressed similarly to Unohana; he was probably a Shinigami. Possibly her subordinate... but his spiritual energy levels were absurdly high. Almost as high as hers, actually. And Unohana's was indeed quite impressive... if below his standards for a Death God. And as for the boy... he had a big sword on his back... just like him. Except that thing on his back was pulsing with an even stronger power than even Tessaiga, if that was possible. Intriguing.

As for the other newcomer, he barely gave him a glance. Nothing but an ordinary male human. Nothing spectacular about him, really. Just like the rest of his kind. He then continued to wait for Unohana to be done , so that he can finally put the blasted meat on that place. He had so much, even after giving around 1/4 of it to Yuffie's household. Maybe he overdid it....

Unohana was glad to see so many people coming, and realized that most of them did not know each other. It seemed introductions were in order.

"Sesshoumaru-san, this is Kurosaki Ichigo, and this is Hawke-san. Sesshoumaru-san is he one who hunted all of that game."

Of course, then came directions. Unohana was good at directing people.

"Kurosaki-san, would you mind finishing spreading the plastic sheet around ? Hawke-san, I see you have knives, that is great. I brought all those I had, but Yours might be more suited to this. Maybe we can get you started on skinning the animals ?"

Yagami Light stepped out of the clinic to see a dragon, a collection of eccentrics, and a lot of extremely unappetising-looking meat. None of that was the problem; the problem was the stench. His upper lip curled for a split second before he got the reaction under control.

He had never, as far as he was aware, touched raw meat, certainly not meat so fresh it seemed to be still steaming. Food preparation had always been his mother's domain, and he had been quite happy to deal only with the finished product, rather than the more unsavoury aspects of the process. He might not be able to be of very much help, he realised.

But that didn't matter. What mattered was that he was here to show willing, to demonstrate his serious and accommodating nature.

He walked up to Unohana, who seemed to be in charge.

"I'm at your service," he said, quietly.

Hawke turned to Sesshoumaru and nodded. "I thank you." And he did the same to the dragon, thanking her for the hunt. He set the pack down and moved over to the meat, studying it for a moment before he chose a proper knife. Unohana gave a direction, and he was more than ready to help.

The scent of blood and fresh gore didn't bother him, nor did the blood as it curled up his arms and legs, writhing as he worked to finish skinning and cutting the meat into large, manageble chunks. It was going to be hard work, and there was a lot of meat to go through. Hawke didn't mind the physical exertion, nor the way the blood coated him like paint, giving him the look of some blotchy panther with his kill. Soon enough, others would be directed to help him, and the time would pass by quickly, then.

[[If anyone wants to branch off into another thread with Hawke, he'll be at the 'skinning station,' if you want to put that into the subject field.]]

"Ah ... Yagami-san. Do you have ... any experience at all with this ?"

He looked like a very proper young man, and one who had probably never seen a real dead animal in his life. She very much doubted that anyone had told him how to skin one.

Hawke-san was in his element, and Sesshoumaru-san was ...

"Maybe you'd like to clean up, Sesshoumaru-san ?"

"No experience at all," he said, simply. He looked over towards the man currently skinning the animal, watching him intently for a few seconds. It looked like heavy work, but he was athletic and strong, and he rather liked learning new skills.

"The chief objective is to separate the meat from the skin and bones, isn't it?" he asked, of nobody in particular, before turning back to Unohana-san.

"If you can forgive me my inevitable slowness, and badly-cut meat, I will try," he added, beginning to walk over towards the dead animals.

Ki'nam announced himself with his stomach growling at the scent of all the meat, loudly. At least that also meant he wasn't squeamish, but then again trying to skin and cook something when one spent about half the time as big as a medium-sized house or larger was quite a task.

Thankfully this was more than easily doable as a human. Under an arm, he carried an industrial-size container of salt, and at his back, he drug a large canvas bag behind him, where he'd thrown wood for smoking some of the meat. Upon sighting Unohana, he bowed his head respectfully, and removed his hat. "Dai'elle Unohana."

The demon, and the carrot-top both held his interest greatly, but hardly the time or place. Setting down the salt and undoing the straps to the bag, he turned to the others. "Y'all got an idea 'f what we're doin' yet?"

Ichigo spread the admittedly huge plastic sheet around. Thank goodness he knew how to skin things, courtesy of his dad forcing him to learn it in the kitchen... and in camping. He still pitied that poor bunny which he used to show him. Well... now he could use those skills (which he had thought he would never use, but hey, them's the breaks).

Once he was done, he looked up... and saw the newcomers. It was a normal-looking brown haired guy... who reeked of death? And a reddish-brown haired one with an eyepatch and a really strong aura like Sesshoumaru's... although not up to the taller-looking guy's level.

He gave them an erstwhile wave. "Hey there! Nice of you to join us. Name's Kurosaki Ichigo...." As they would probably have heard already from Unohana.

"Ki'nam-san ! Welcome !"

With Hawke-san, Kurosaki-san and Yagami-san getting started on skinning and carving, things were getting underway.

"I see you brought salt .. we only had a little. If you want to settle down that way, we can keep the fire in that cleared area and do the salting on the plastic. Oh, and this is Sesshoumaru-san, he is the one who hunted the meat. Sesshoumaru-san, please meet Ki'nam-san."

He looked up and frowned, vaguely confused. Memories of history lessons from long ago rose to the surface, and he got to his feet, very relieved to have an excuse to step away from the bloodied piece of meat.

"Unohana-san?" he said, walking over to her and stopping to shudder in disgust as he accidentally stepped in blood. Mouth twitching, he walked on, leaving a perfect imprint of the toes on his right foot as he walked.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't help overhearing," he said, politely. "But if you have limited amounts of salt, it will stretch further if you use brine, rather than dry salting."

"Ah, thank you, Yagami-san, but I think Ki'nam-san brought some more ?"

Unohana pointed at the big container.

"We'll have to see just how much meat we end up with, what we'll do with the organs ... Were there any poisonous beasts among them, Sesshoumaru-san ?"

It seemed the much more congenial job of dissolving salt in water would not be his. Frustrated that his plan had misfired, and taken aback at the irrationality of the decision in a situation where resources appeared to be routinely scarce, he bowed and returned to his now half-carved hunk of meat.

It was an appalling job. His hands were covered in blood and felt sticky; some of it had sneaked its way up towards his elbow, and some had by mysterious means deposited itself on his chest. He had a dreadful feeling that at some point, he'd absently run a hand through his hair; since the only way of checking would be to touch it, he left it alone, for now.

Biting back a sigh, he resumed the work, hoping someone would think of something else for him to do soon.

Roy kept looking back at his watch as he wandered toward the clinic, frowning at it a few more times before pocketing it. He wasn't sure whether he'd be much help after taking so long to get here.

The sight... was different, but he noted with some regret that the smell of blood was not such a new thing.

"Unohana," He said when he was within hearing distance, "Sorry about the time. Looks like you're doing well."

Bowing his head again before returning the hat to his head, he tipped it in Sesshoumaru's direction as for a quick greeting. That was great, he'd murder that name for sure unless he spoke properly. He was a strong one too, probably easily offended by the way he was dressed.

He'd worry about proper manners later though, dragging the wood down to where Unohana indicated, removing it from the bag, and piling it in a roughly neat circle to help keep it somewhat managed, he doubted he'd need every speck, but at least it was organized.

Taking some of the smaller branches, he started tying them together with some tough vines he'd snatched off the creeper plants, that was fun. Soon enough, he had the beginnings of a rack to hang meat on started. As for the salt, well, there was no need to take that with him, if the educated-looking human still wanted it, that was their business.

Sesshoumaru unraveled his Mokomoko-sama on top of the plastic cover after it was done, depositing the meat onto it. There was a damn lot of it there... just how much did he gorge on, anyway? Maybe he had starved himself too much... nah. That couldn't be it. By this time, the load on the Swan Dragon was also unloaded, and it was now standing next to him, looking curiously at the other demon, Ki'nam.

The white haired daiyoukai gave him a tiny nod, an acknowledgment of the considerable power he could feel in said person... which felt draconian. But he didn't comment on it, and was about to go to a lake to remove the blood on his person, when Unohana asked a question.

"No. They did not." Nor would it have mattered. Most poisons were useless against him... unless it was something akin to Magatsuchi's. And then... he went to go take a bath. "This Sesshoumaru shall take his leave in order to remove the blood. Is this Sesshoumaru still needed here, Unohana?"
