Spike strolled up to the door of Kenta's place, carrying a small duffel bag over his shoulder. He was getting tired of staying in the tiny place he'd found shortly after his arrival, and moving in with Kenta seemed to be like a good idea. He was a pretty nice guy after all.

He knocked on the door briefly, plucking the cigarette from his lips and holding it between his fingers as he waited.

Can Aya come to greet you, too? :) 1_resonance August 29 2009, 06:11:39 UTC
Aya had been sitting at her corner window with her elbows propped up on the sill -- she was enjoying the afternoon sun pouring through, and the view of... whatever Adstringendum was -- when she noticed Spike stroll up. At first, she was content to not say anything and just watched him thoughtfully. His cigarette looked tempting. But, when she heard him knock on the door, she poked her head out and cleared her throat to get his attention.

"Assuming you're one of the new boarders, I was told that that door is just for show, as the wall around the corner is missing."

But of course! :3 realfolkinblue August 29 2009, 07:35:41 UTC
Spike looked up and noticed the woman calling down to him. "Is that so?" he replied, a smile playing on his lips. "I remember Kenta saying something like that," he said. He placed his cigarette back in his mouth and pocketed his hands, strolling around to the other side of the house. He figured he'd go inside to continue the conversation with this woman rather than shout to her.

Yay! :D She needs some more friends here... >< 1_resonance August 29 2009, 07:44:40 UTC
Aya nodded, "Yes. You have to climb the tree to get to the top floor. It's not hard."

She watched placidly as he shoved his hands into his pocket and began around the side of the house. As soon as he disappeared from view, she shut her window and made her way out of her room, walking toward where the wall should have been to peer down at him.

"Your room is on this floor, I believe."

Spike looked up the tree and at the upper level. "Doesn't sound too hard," he said, grabbing a hold of the tree trunk and hoisting himself up. It was a big tree, but it wasn't too long before he reached the second level of the building. Hopping out of the tree and onto solid ground, he stopped in front of the blonde woman. She was quite beautiful, and reminded him of someone from a past life.

"Yo."

She looped her thumbs through the belt loops of her denims and gave him a little nod, "Hello. I'm Aya, one of your new roommates." There was something oddly funny about this statement, and after a pause she gave a little chuckle.

"I feel like I'm in college again."

Kenta poked his head out of his and L's room where he was busy organizing their space, attempting to make everything a bit more personal. He smiled a welcome to Spike and then turned to look at Aya. "Your college allowed co-ed rooming?"

Aya nodded, "There were co-ed dorms, but the rooms were separated. Most boys and girls shared the same hallway, but not the same suites. Like I said, I'm used to having a lot of boys around."

She wasn't sure how Kenta or Spike would take the last part of her statement, but she figured if they wanted her to elaborate they could ask. There was a brief moment that she actually felt embarrassed about her sex life -- or lack thereof.

"I suppose the college life in the US is quite different from that in other countries."

Spike nodded, not too willing to contribute his two cents that he wasn't too familiar with colleges and dorm living. But he did have similar living arrangements at some point.

"You're from the U.S.?" he asked Aya.

She gave him a little nod, "Yes. I grew up in New York. Are you from the U.S?"

"I've heard of it," he said simply. He removed the cigarette from between his lips, exhaling a puff of smoke, making sure to point it away from her or Kenta's general direction.

"I'm from Mars," he said.

It took a moment for Aya to catch what he was saying. Mars?

Oh, right. Different worlds. In this case, Spike was probably from a different time. She let her eyes briefly flicker over his cigarette before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"The year was 1999 when I arrived here. I suppose it's nice, knowing that Y2K didn't happen; despite knowing it was a hoax..."

"Y2K?" he asked, smiling. He'd heard a little something about that ordeal, but he wasn't born until over forty years after it happened.

"That's a while ago. I guess I came from 2071."

"Yeah. All of the computers were supposed to reset or something, and then the world was going to come to an end. One of the boys at the precinct faithfully believed in it. Renovated his townhouse and built a bomb shelter in the basement."

She laughed lightly at the memory. It made her miss home. "You guess you came from 2071?" she smirked; there was an uncharacteristic hint of mischief in her blue eyes, "Wow... I would almost be one hundred by then..."

Spike wasn't sure why he wasn't sure about the year he'd come from. He was pretty sure before he left.

"I seem to be older than a lot of people," he said with a small smile. He was still tickled by the Y2K thing. When she explained the concept behind it, it was honestly the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard. But hey, the people of the past were strange creatures. It was then that he realized he hadn't actually introduced himself.

"I'm Spike," he said, holding out a hand.

She stared down at his hand for a length of time that was probably a little bit too long before lightly shaking his hand.

"I'm Aya," she said, giving his hand a little shake, "It's a pleasure to meet you."

When she took her hand back, she looped her thumb through her belt-loop again, "There are two rooms left to choose from. This one is mine," she nodded toward the door in the corner. "That's the room that Kenta and Ryuzaki are sharing," she nodded toward the room where Kenta was organizing.
