There was no sound outside as Vincent climbed the wall, up to what he knew was Rinoa's bedroom. Unfortunately for him, both the window and the drapes were closed, although he could see a slice of room in a small crack between them. He caught her walking back and forth, apparently at ease.

He maneuvered to get more comfortable on the outer windowsill, wondering whether to knock or not.

Placing the book on her now bedside table, with the brush on top of it, she easily walked to the window and carefully placed the potted flower on the right side, which she considered was the perfect spot for light and temperature.

"I'm sorry, Bellus, but I have to open at least one of the windows." She smiled at the ridiculous notion of talking with a flower, but still "It's just a bit to warm here."

Gently running one of her fingertips over the delicate purple petals, she moved to open at least the left side of the double panel window and sighed a bit at the small draft of fresh air.

"Now that's better!" Feeling quite pleased she turned around to walk back to her bed, wanting to read a bit more of the book, and starting to hum again "The second that I feel, your safe hands reaching out for mine, I slip away and out of sight...you've overstayed your time."

Vincent ... blinked as Rinoa opened the window, and obviously missed seeing him. It was true that he had an uncanny way of blending into his surroundings, but still ...

He came closer and inside, slowly climbing down the window.

Picking up her book, who will have thought that taking care of a flower was going to be so difficult, pushing rather annoying strands of hair from her face and behind her ears, she turned around with a smile before that died with a small startled scream and with her book ending on the floor.

"Dear Hyne!" She said with just a small frown and placing her hand on her chest over the area of her heart, grey eyes flashed in slight annoyance and anger at the man that was now in her room "What do you think you're doing scaring me like this!?"

Okay, sure, maybe he didn't do it on purpose but still he could have made a sound or something to alert her to his presence in her room, with a small sigh she once again bent down to pick up the book before looking back at him again.

He didn't try to close the distance between them, just turned on his side so he could watch her.

"I wish I could be what you deserve. I'm sorry."

The words were said in a whisper, barely above a breath.

She felt him turning to look at her and she winced a bit, in slight anger when he apologized again, she knew that already and he didn't needed to keep repeating it...it hurt a bit when he said it and part of her, either pride or fear, refused to tell him that.

"It's okay, I understand." The sorceress finally said, still not moving to look at him…she couldn’t.

Her words were not exactly a lie, she did understand and while she wasn't exactly okay with it, well, she had learned to keep some of her opinions for herself when it came to him, it was better for them she supposed.

"It's not fair to you."

He could see that she did not want to speak of it, in the way she kept obstinately looking at anything but him. In the end, people involved with him always seemed to get hurt in some way. It took someone with a very tough skin to get close to him.

A deep weary sigh, one that she didn't even knew she was holding down, escaped her lips and she finally moved to her side to look at him. Her expression was carefully and nearly painfully calm.

"Life is not meant to be fair, Vincent, that's something that I have come to learn." She finally said after a few seconds of silence, her tone delicate but firm "Stop worrying about it."

The sorceress tried to smile at him, to let him know that she meant her words but she couldn't do it.
