Hawke arrived just moments later, dressed in his usual clothing of a waist cloth. This time, though, his hair was in a tight, crisp braid that ensured his vision wouldn't be hindered. The leather cords that were normally around his wrists weren't there, and in one hand held a very thin blade.

"Draco." He nodded slowly in greeting. "You look well."

Seeing Hawke approaching, he turned to him and returned the greeting, "Hawke. You as well."

He was wearing only his trousers and a shirt. He could move more freely that way. He uncuffed one sleeve, the wand arm, while staring at him.

"Before we start, do you want to set some ground rules?" Even if it was only a friendly fight, it was always best to prevent unnecessary risks.

Ground rules were important in any competition. "It ends when blood is drawn from you, or the turn of one hour." That sounded very reasonable. It would prevent additional injury and after wards, they could feast. "No serious wounding." Of course, serious for Hawke was probably different than Draco's serious. "You?"

He eyed the knife on Hawke's hand. Blood? As if he'd let him get close enough, he smirked mentally. "That sounds good. Nothing serious, or permanent. It will also end if I get that dagger off your hand. You agree?"

"As well as your stick." A small smirk there, too. If he's without his knife and didn't make a mark, then he would most definitely have lost. Hawke had no intention of loosing.

"That's a deal." This was going to be interesting. Draco could already feel the excitement flowing in his veins.

"Well then, are you ready?" He stood slightly to the side, facing him, with his legs just a bit apart. His hand gripped the wand in anticipation.

Hawke relaxed, nodding slightly. "That I am." He bent slightly at the knee, palming the knife so that it was somewhat hidden in his hand.

He narrowed his eyes, thinking where to start. If this was a duel, a disarming charm would be good, but he had to consider other factors now. Hawke seemed to have a pretty strong grip on that dagger, so he'd better save that move for a better time.

He decided to start with a fairly harmless spell, to see how he would deal with it. With a firm swish, he waved the wand, and shot the tickling charm in his direction. "Rictusempra!"

Hawke didn't quite understand what Draco did, but suddenly his skin was twitching. His mouth quirked and his stance faltered a little bit as he squirmed. Why was he suddenly ticklish?

He willed himself to still, gripping the knife with a greater resolve and makes a swift motion of his knife against his opposite wrist. A steady stream of blood flowed to the ground, but stopped short of actually reaching the ground. It looked much like a flowing, crimson rope, ready for action.

Draco narrowed his eyes when he saw Hawke cut himself. What was he up to? He watched the blood take shape and stood still, ready to throw a shield charm, if necessary.

In the next breath, he grabbed a hold of the 'rope' and then flings it in Draco's direction, aiming for a leg so he can knock him to the ground. And Hawke didn't seem the least bit worried that this string of blood wasn't going to be able to do what he wanted it to do, either.

Wha... Draco threw the spell, before he could even ask himself if it would work. Happy to see the rope like blood stop before reaching him, he relaxed slightly.

He ended the spell with a flick and thought up his next move. He seemed determined not let himself get caught in whatever that blood is capable off.

Okay, Draco can block that. But that was only one whip. With barely a thought to it, the blood rope separated into two pieces as he threw it at Draco again, with one strand going for the head and the other for Draco's arm.

Seeing now two of the things, he wondered if he had time to stop both of them. Choosing to protect his arm first, he blocked one strand. He had only just spoken half the spell when he felt the other strand touch the side of his face.

The slide of blood didn't feel slimy, but more like the finest silk. Hawke saw his opportunity and chose to blind Draco, directing the whip to mask the blond's eyes.

Draco remained calm. Even if he could not see, he could overcome this. He raised his free hand to the strands covering his eyes and tried pulling them. They barely budged. If Hawke was distracted, he thought, it could be easier to remove them. He shot a freezing charm in Hawke's direction and hoped it would hit him.
