He'd spent most of the afternoon at the beach after Alphonse had dragged him there, but the desire to stay there and watch the sunset had been overpowering, and beyond that there was the silent invite of darkness.

Thinking time wasn't something he was in short supply of, but the sound of gentle waves crashing against the shore was eerily therapeutic, and it gave him the chance to really relax.

The way he was sat allowed the tide to envelop his feet at every wave, but he was far back enough that the water didn't reach the rest of him where he sat, although he was still in swimming trunks from much earlier - it wouldn't have mattered if it did.

Zephyr, padding along silently down the shoreline would have been hard to hear, unless one had been focusing on their surroundings. He spotted the man sitting at the shore's edge and slowed down, attempting to see if he was recognizable.

He stopped just a few yards away before speaking, looking out across the tide. "It's a magnificent sight, isn't it?"

He was caught off guard by the voice, and shot a look up in the direction of the words, and in a moment he decided that there was a minimal threat, and he slumped back against his palms, looking back out to the ocean with a soft sigh.

"It is." He responded simply, drawing his feet up slightly before returning his attention to the figure, squinting in the dark in an attempt to aid his sight.

Practically blending in with the night, Zephyr took a few steps closer before speaking again. "Apparently it's only a temporary thing, so might as well enjoy it while it lasts." He closed his eyes, smiling faintly at the sound of the waves lapping against the shoreline.

He frowned and tipped his head in an attempt to see better. It was odd to be approached by someone like this, and really, laying on the floor didn't give him much room for defence.

"As temporary as anything here is." He mumbled, shaking his head with a chuckle. "Ah, it makes you think a little too much, don't you find?"

"Mmhm. Thinking too much always seems to be a problem with some. There's always something more powerful, and if you think about the Animus, what limits do they have? Look at what they manage to do overnight." It was true, the spirits powers seemed limitless.

A heavy sigh and he moved to sit better, head shaking just slightly. "Mn, That's true." He muttered.

"This makes a nice change though, makes you wonder what exactly the animus are up to, hmn?"

Zephyr nodded slightly in response before speaking. "The calm before the storm. That phrase is only to true. You never know what'll come next."

He seemed to sigh slightly, the topic keeping him focused on his task at hand.

It was a little awkward to say the least, and he sat up fully moments later, crossing his legs under him.

"Never a truer word... I suppose we can only learn to prepare ourselves."

"It's hard to prepare yourself for an enemy that not only refuses to show itself, but can alter reality at will. There must be a way to counter them, right?" Perhaps he could gather others opinions on the subject.

He was instantly on the cautious the moment the topic of countering the Animus came up, and really he supposed he and Hawkeye had been wrong... Should they work on an organisation of any kind here... they would have opposition, in the form of the Animus.

"I'm not entirely sure... Again, we know so little about them..."

"They believe they can control so many people's fates. It is unnatural and wrong. There has to be a way to stop it." The shadows at Zephyr's feet seemed to move very faintly, shifting around.

"Perhaps there is more information that has yet to be uncovered."

He couldn't help but chuckle a little. Messing with fates, yeah - they were doing that, but for some people being here... was a blessing.

"Of course, I definately believe there is. It's just finding a way to uncover it."

"I'm searching for that way." Zephyr stated, his gaze locked on the waves further out. "I have to."

It was odd, to say the least - to bear witness to determination like this. It had been so long since he'd seen someone bristling with it, and these days he was only met with it in the mirror.

"I doubt you're the only one." It was a hint, one he didn't mind whether it was picked up or not.

"I know that there must be others. However, this is personal. They had taken my memories, and for that, they must pay."

An odd smirk managed to make its way onto his face.
