Shiki could smell the scent of blood the minute Kamui stepped into the church, though he merely kept his head bowed until the other drew a little bit closer, the gap between them shortening before he slowly stood up, cocking his head over his shoulder with that usual emotionless frown gracing his face. "Odd isn't it...." Shiki made his way out of the pew and up the middle aisle, his hands tucked into his pocket as he stood before the large cross at the front where the minister would usually stand, a hand slowly pulling out of his pocket and moving to touch the so called 'pure' symbol which was used in myth to ward off vampires such as himself. "How humans take faith in something that isn't real....."
Shiki turned around to look back at Kamui, his eyes flashing that crimson red momentarily before he leaped through the air, jumping over the minister's pedestal and back into the middle aisle, taking a seat in a nearby pew situated by Kamui. "So, you wanted to know about vampires in my world. Well, I am curious to know about them in yours to." Shiki was just interested in knowing all facts about vampires now, may it be his own world's or Kamui's, to know their strengths, weaknesses, and who was unruly and who wasn't. It was going to be a long night. "What do you want to know first.....Kamui."
Kamui stopped on the spot when he reached where the other was, folding his arms absently as he saw him move towards the cross. He had to admit that it was amusing to actually see a vampire touch it, perhaps humans would later come to think of it as now being tainted should they ever find out. Not that any building or area in this world was ‘holy’ in any way, if this church that they were now standing in was the one he’d heard about long ago then it was far more suited to their kind by now. Murders in the ‘house of God’ and now vampires, at least no one was particularly religious in this place, they’d probably have had a heart attack by now.
He carefully watched as the other vampire jumped back to the aisle and moved to a pew. He had to admit that this vampire seemed to possess very good movement skills, an interesting thing to keep in mind, should the Animus decide to force people against each other at a later point in time. Kamui perched on the pew on the other side of the aisle, not keen on being too close to other quite yet or in standing for the duration of this.
“I can tell you of abilities of my kind, my knowledge of social structures between us in that world might be blurred by now though.” It was true after all; he’d been moving for so long that he’d forgotten things about himself let alone the world he was born in. Key things still remained in his mind but those were few and far in between. He carefully inspected the other before speaking again, “How about starting with those level that you mentioned before?”
Shiki merely nodding, wondering why Kamui was sitting rather far away. Was he scared of him? He didn't take Kamui for the type to be scared of his own kind, or anything for that matter too easily. But no matter, Shiki liked his space for the most part anyways. Crossing his arms, the aristocratic vampire gave off a small sigh, recollecting all the lineage and past about the vampires that he had acquired over his many, many years. Bowing his head, he would begin. "It's not just one level of vampires in my world. We are each categorized by the pureness of our blood, passed through the lineage of our fore fathers."
Shiki then turned to cock his head towards Kamui, his eyes slowly opening. "Our leaders, and the most influential vampires are the pure bloods. No vampire dares to stand against a pure blood, no matter if you are even remotely close to being as powerful. There are only a handful of them left, Kaname, a friend and the overseer of the hideout for young vampires at the academy I was enrolled in was a pure blood, one of the most powerful as well."
Shiki couldn't help but think about the past year that ensued, thoughts of his wicked pure blood father wrap through his mind, causing him to furrow his brows a little and a hand to move to his face, wiping away the strands of hair which covered his face before continuing. "Then you have me, Level B vampires which are known as 'Aristocratic Vampires' who are descendants of pure bloods. We have special powers like the pure bloods though nowhere near as powerful. Then you have the Level C vampires, commoner vampires who merely need blood to survive."
Then Shiki stood up, moving down the aisle as a hand was used to lean on the minister's pedestal as he looked towards the ground. "Then comes the filth I told you about, the Level D and E vampires. These are not vampires, they are pathetic humans turned by corrupt pure bloods, and only pure bloods can turn humans in our world. They loose all of their will and their mind, only craving to kill and lust for blood. When the vampires hear about a Level E in the area; I was usually one of the ones to take care of them because of my....unique abilities."
He didn't really think he had to explain himself on that part just yet, telling Kamui about the levels, he thought it was his turn to hear some information. "You said your own vampires had a social structure...."
Kamui stayed very still and quiet as he listened, absently musing that this was perhaps one of the very few things which was holding his interest for more than a few moments. It was a pleasant change to hear about something such as this without a straight out refusal to say a word. It was also a nice change to hear about a different social structure without someone somewhere listening in and planning to create a ‘perfect community’. Of all the things the humans had come up with, the idea of everyone being equal had to be the most absurd idea. Ever. It didn’t take a genius to realise that not everyone would be on the same page if that were to happen, and Kamui knew exactly where the vampires would be placed. Right at the bottom, something which he simply wouldn’t stand for and at least now he knew there would be another who wouldn’t stand for it.
He kept his gaze trained on the other, not daring to let his guard down for even a second, paying close attention when he moved down the aisle. Now that was something new, those that had been turned losing their humanity. Well, perhaps not new as he recalled Sion saying something similar but it certainly wasn’t something he’d heard recently. If those that were turned were thought of as such low creatures in this other vampire’s world then that would mean he would believe that Rosalie and Fai were the same, right? His eyes narrowed very slightly at the last few words, another vampire or not he wouldn’t tolerate such a thing if that power was turned against the other vampires here.
“He do.” Kamui nodded as he shifted his position, head looking upwards for a few moments before he continued. “It based around the purity of the blood, although not in quite a specific system like yours. The purer the blood, the more influence in the general society and the higher status you can achieve. As the bloodlines slowly become contaminated those who remain pure gain more power, obviously.” He sighed slightly as he paused. “Purer blood is achieved through the breeding of only vampires, and has its rewards in the form of the abilities that are received. Those with the purest of blood are the best suited to survive. Blood can be bred out of and into the line.” The vampire slowly moved his gaze back to the other, “Any one of us with vampire blood, regardless of its purity, can turn a human who will then inherit our abilities.”
Sorry about that, had to cut the grass. >.<possessedvampJune 1 2009, 01:35:01 UTC
Shiki turned his full attention to Kamui as he listened. It sounded similar to his own world, considering if pure bloods bred with pure bloods their blood type would remain the same and their offspring would become pure bloods. He wasn't usually interested in many things, but when it came to matters of his own kind, he thoroughly enjoyed learning the history and facts behind them.
Making his way back down the aisle, Shiki took a seat back in one of the pews, shifting his body so he was facing Kamui. "Sounds relatively close to my world in a general term, except for the fact that I cannot turn a human into a vampire...thankfully." He didn't want that burden on his shoulders in the first place, if he really needed blood he wouldn't have to worry about turning a human into a vampire because it just was not possible because of his genes, and he aimed to keep it that way. Hopefully this messed up world would not change the laws in which his body is bound to, he knew too little to know exactly how this place worked.
"Tell me, Kamui......how did humans and vampires live in your world." Shiki was curious as to how they did get along in their world, for in his world the only humans who really knew about their existence were the Vampire Hunter's Association and they only made matters worse for the vampires and interfered with their according laws.
No worries. And...I was sleeping. ;;unlucky_bloodJune 1 2009, 16:22:00 UTC
Kamui once again watched as the other moved and then sat again, the word fidgety came to mind at that particular moment in time. He didn’t chase after a further discussion about the turning process; somehow it seemed that all other species apart from his own turned through biting after all. How that exactly worked was beyond his understanding, it didn’t seem logical. Not that he’d spent an awful lot of time thinking on the subject though.
He snorted at the request. That was certainly something to try and think back to, something he hadn’t really known in detail in the first place. After all, his family had made sure to bring both he and his brother up to carry on the bloodline that had been going ever since the first ancestor. Look how that teaching had turned out. He hated company of large groups of people, be it of vampires or something else, and his brother had fallen for a human. Not including the fact that they’d both essentially run from their lives like that and would possibly never return home. Kamui could hardly say it was a pity.
“How do they live...” He trailed off thoughtfully, thinking over what little information he’d heard in the pause. “Humans lived in different areas, villages and towns, than we did. There were large cities which served as areas to mingle, vampires would move in with humans but those turned would move in with vampires. Some families didn’t agree to the mingling process.” He sighed slightly, “In the vampire areas, in the households which didn’t agree with humans, there were specialised beings, beings which were created for the mere purpose of being ‘E’.” Kamui paused again before adding, “’E’ means bait. These were beings with blood but no real soul to speak of.”
Shiki found that revolting. Humans and vampires wanting to live together? What was their problem? Were they corrupt? Did they truly think that humans and vampires could live together in peace and harmony? Nonsense, all nonsense. He could help but let a small and rather eery smirk drape over his lips momentarily as he thought of such ridiculous notions. "Such dreams of vampires and humans living together in harmony will never happen....." His voice drifting off as he crossed his arms once more, his face looking up towards the sky through the large hole in the roof of the church, the night's stars sparkling brightly. Beautiful, if Shiki could simply see such darkness countered by light all his life he would be content.
Hearing Kamui's own question, Shiki's eyes slowly drifted back down towards the other, shrugging a little to himself. "It was strange. No one believed in vampires, but a handful of humans did know of our existence. These humans were either those who were Level E, humans who came in contact with vampires and survived somehow, though their memories were usually erased by the vampire council to forget such things....and the Vampire Hunter Association." Shiki pausing for a moment as he thought of those dreaded humans, hunting down his comrades like dogs if they even made one wrong move in their life. Pathetic in a way that the vampire council even agreed with their motives. He never thought it was right, though of course, would never voice his true opinion on that matter for fear of being turned over to said hunters.
"The human students at the Academy were even clueless, they merely saw us vampires as 'the night class', beautiful and rich boys and girls who were adored by the human population at Cross Academy, the sight of them as they drooled over us was merely revolting to say the least." Shiki cocking his head and giving off a small hmpf.
Kamui couldn’t stop himself from the retort to that little statement, maybe it was that ghost of a smirk that he’d at least thought he had seen. Whatever the reason he still couldn’t stop his mouth before the words escaped him, “If that were true then they wouldn’t have been living like that for centuries.” At least he managed to then stop the words from tumbling out before Shiki went on to explain about things in his world.
He once again listened quietly and carefully to the other as he spoke, noting every piece of information for future reference should it be needed again. Of course the way this vampire spoke also provided a clearer outline into whether he could be trusted or not, Kamui couldn’t say whether his own words did the same thing considering how many had taken them the wrong way recently. From what he could tell at this moment in time while there was an immense hatred of humans, and those turned, there was very little untrustworthy about him.
“Humans are like that.” He spoke up again as he stared off to the side a little, thinking about the humans he’d either had the misfortune to be stalked by as well as those he had willingly observed. “A large number of them will fall for anything that has suitable looks. In this place people tend to go with whatever they can get.” It was true after all, and he couldn’t say that he was exempt from that particular group after some of the things he’d personally done in the past. It was easy to get bored and one of the few things to pass the time was to use other people, regardless he hadn’t personally done anything too terrible. “They’ll try to get to you and then they’ll make idiotic little comments afterwards.” There was definite resentment in his voice at that moment, his mind thinking back to the remarks both past and present. Stupid annoyances.
Shiki could have been rude and said something back about Kamui's little comment, but he decided to hold his tongue; it wouldn't do well to upset what seemed to most likely the only person he would befriend in this place. He was perfectly content with not having any friends, loneliness and solitude were welcomed with open arms when it came to this guy. He liked his privacy, as well as his freedom away from others to be able to do things on his own.
Kamui rather intrigued Shiki, not only for the reasons of his past, but because he reminded him a lot of himself. Someone who seemed to stray away from others and had a very large hatred against humans. All and all he wanted to know as much as he could about him, and he would give the other all the necessary and wanted information, as long as he got something back in return; Shiki was not one to give out things for free, a give and take relationship with this one. His eyes glowed that crimson red momentarily, his ears perking up as he thought he heard the sounds of footsteps or something in the distance, though thankfully, it was merely the wind as it flushed through the building, his reddish brown hair dancing in the wind as he watched Kamui's movements. Strange.....not only did the two of them seem to think alike, but their manner in speech was similar as well. "Sad really...." Muttering a little as he bowed his head and sighed. "To think we live in a world with such insolent and idiotic humans. Most of which are only good for the blood they carry in their veins."
That really was the only thing that Shiki thought they were good for, their one single use which made them helpful to his aid. Sometimes he pitied himself for having to rely on them for his life force. Though it came with being a vampire so it really couldn't be helped, if only he could create more artificial tablets which dissolved into water and was used as a substitute for blood, then he wouldn't need to rely on them in this world at all.
Kamui caught the changed in eye colour and had to wonder about that, it seemed to be a fairly common thing between most vampires he’d met in the place. Perhaps that was now one of the common factors in what a vampire was, no longer linking to bats but instead to changes in eye colour. How very different they really were to those old fashioned legends that the humans had created, stories born from fear of the unknown. Rather amusing how utterly wrong those people truly were, honestly who would believe that something the size of a human could change into a bat of all things?
He made a small sound of agreement, there was very little he could truthfully say to oppose that and there was no reason to add something which was merely a repetition. He’d even admitted recently that he highly doubted that most humans were ‘good’, in his books they were all as terrible as the hunters he’d seen in several worlds and they always would be unless he was physically proved wrong. In this place there were perhaps two or three humans that he actually deemed worthy of holding a civil conversation with, the others were mere annoyances who served little purpose other than to endlessly be irritating. Even the few who he did speak with could be frustrating at times, one had certainly had his bad side turned on him on several occasions, something which Kamui felt a strange sense of pride for even if he now had a price on his neck for it.
“Unfortunately we’re damned without them.” The only worthwhile thing he could think to say which wouldn’t lead to an in-depth follow-up conversation about his personal interactions with one human in particular. He was all for equivalent exchange in information but his personal life was still that, personal. “I suppose the alternative is to use animals.” He grimaced at that idea; animal blood would always be the very last resort for him, such a foul taste. Kamui sighed very slightly, “Either way nothing can be done about it in this place.”
What Kamui said was true, the blunt fact of the matter was, without humans, vampires would cease to exist anymore for the most part. Even with the tablets he had been living off for the last year and a half before he got here, Shiki couldn't say that he hadn't wanted blood from a real human again. The taste was....not exotic per say, but it tasted a lot more potent than that of a substitute. That, and he couldn't help but feel like he was being stripped of his right and pride when he ate the tablets. Was it wrong to want that which you need to survive?
Sighing, Shiki closed his eyes once again, leaning back in the pew. "As much as I hate to admit it, you're right." Simply agreeing with him on the matter. When the thought of animal blood crossed his mind, he let off a solemn hiss in discontent, loathing the very idea of drinking from a rabid creature which would taint his own blood. "Such things are frowned upon in my world, if you drink from an animal you are no better than the loathsome creature itself....." Opening his eyes and furrowing his brows in discontent. "Dishonorable to the clan you could say."
What Kamui said was true, the blunt fact of the matter was, without humans, vampires would cease
Kamui had to admit that the idea of such a thing being looked down upon by a kind was actually a surprise. Granted the only time he’d actually had the misfortune of tasting animal blood was when he and his brother had ended up dining with humans. The food in general was rather disgusting but it was a sacrifice that had to be made in order for them to blend into the world’s society. Regardless, he didn’t like the taste personally and he knew that it lacked certain properties which could only be gained through human blood. Even so, it still wasn’t something that was frowned upon in their kind though. Thinking about it, there was very little actually frowned upon with his kind.
“I see little wrong with it, apart from the taste and lack of it doing anything truly useful.” He stretched out briefly before folding his arms and sinking down in the pew. “One of the two turned vampires here lives off animal blood; she does it to avoid feeding off humans.” He didn’t add on the fact that Rosalie herself was of an entirely different kind, he doubted it would make a great impact to state such a thing after all. There wasn’t a sense of responsibility about protecting that turned one exactly; he just simply wanted to avoid the possible fighting in general. If it started between her and Shiki then it was likely that things would then spread to attacking the one he’d turned, and Kamui truly didn’t fancy dying for that person of all people.
“Different kinds have different expectations and taboos.”
It seemed that Kamui and himself did not share all things alike, for he still did not see drinking from animals as a proper, and not to mention acceptable means to acquire their life force. But then again, who was he to prod? He had been taking tablets for more than a year, perhaps times would change and he would open up to new ideas if it came down as a last resort. Giving it thought, Shiki merely nodded. "Perhaps.....as a last resort." Speaking his thoughts as he slowly stood up.
His last sentence was very true. Exactly how many different types of vampires would he be dealing with now that he was in a world made up of every other world in existence? This was going to be rather tiresome. But, he was going to make the best of it, in solitude or dare he say it.....with humans. "I've realized much of what I am going to have to deal with in this world already....." Muttering to himself as he made his way towards Kamui, resting on the wall opposite to him.
Kamui nodded in return, he didn’t expect for everything to be agreed upon after all. That would be wishful thinking, something which often proved to be a dangerous thing. Arguing the point would cause unnecessary conflict from someone who could prove to be an extremely dangerous being. Not that he’d argue in defence of drinking animal blood when he would personally avoid it for as long as possible.
Kamui was well-known by those around him for his sharp hearing; the other’s muttering was no exception. He wouldn’t intrude further for information on that matter; he was trying to get out of the habit of reading through people’s thoughts nowadays. He was still half tempted to retort about this being merely a taste of life in this world. It might be better to let the other find that out for himself on this occasion in all honesty though, at least concerning the matter of the Animus.
Shiki's eyes shot over to Kamui at his question, thinking it over in his mind. Where exactly was he going to stay? He thought he was going to just hole up in this abandoned church for now, but since half the roof was missing and seemed that if it rained it would be rather troublesome and wet that wouldn't work. Shrugging, his eyes peered back up to the sky, the beautiful stars shining brightly as he gave off a sigh and shoved his hands deep into his pockets. "I don't know...."
That was his only answer, he really had no idea who would want to take him in, nor did he really wish to stay with humans who would merely make him detest this place even further than he already did.
Well, I am curious to know about them in yours to." “Unfortunately we’re damned without them.” The only worthwhile thing he could think to say which wouldn’t lead to an in-depth follow-up conversation about his personal interactions with one human in particular.

“Where are you staying in this place?”

That was his only answer, he really had no idea who would want to take him in, nor did he really wish to stay with humans who would merely make him detest this place even further than he already did.
