Cassidy poked her head into the pub, completely unsure of going in and enjoying the party. But she did want to, so she eventually stepped in and to the side of the door, canine ears pressed almost flat against her skull and tail held in her hands. There were people she recognized from over the network, but not really anyone she personally knew...which was fine since she was trying to meet people, but...she was nervous just the same.

A second female had dared to step into the wolf's mouth, and she looked just as shy -if not more scared and wary- than the other one.

Her doggy ears took Mello by surprise for a few seconds, but after all the things he'd witnessed in this place, his small shock didn't last for long.

"Hey there. Up for a drink?"

If young ladies insisted in defiling their own innocence by coming to such parties, so be it.

Of course Cassidy was of legal drinking age, but her usual demeanor made her appear less so. Her ears perked at the offer and she considered Mello for a moment. "What do you have?" she asked finally, releasing her tail to let it swing behind her. Her dog tag flashed in the light.

"Nothing that doesn't have alcohol in it," he replied, keeping his smirk. "I hope that your tolerance to alcoholic drinks is good; if it's not, you might still get lucky. Some people brought water and juice with them."

It sounded silly that Mello's party would be filled with kids bringing in bottles of water, but oh well. He'd said that everyone was invited, and that meant everyone.

"Oh, that's fine, I can drink," she said. "And I'm not too picky either. Something simple would be nice." She was curious as to Mello's age, but didn't want to ask. "Anyway, I'm Cassidy, and new here."

"Call me Mello." Not like he didn't expect her to know his name already. "I don't know if you're underage, but truth be told, I don't care. I trust that you know what's convenient for you," he added with a smirk, turning to one of the tables where some bottles of whiskey and vodka could be seen, beside some glasses.

"There's a nice selection to choose from here. Come with me." Mello walked to the table he'd been glancing at and took a seat on the couch. From that position he could still see Near, so it was all good.

Cassidy followed him over. "I don't have a lot of experience with many drinks," she admitted. "But I am familiar with whiskey and a little with vodka." She sat down as well, but not too close because she knew some people liked their space.

In such situations, sitting too close to someone was an obvious way to flirt with them. Mello wasn't too picky about his personal space at that moment, and he took the girl's polite distance as natural wariness from her side. She seemed genuinely innocent.

"Whiskey, then. Can't have you fainting before the party's over." He reached out for the bottle and poured some whiskey into one of the glasses, then he offered it to her. A smirk was permanently pasted in his features. "Here you are."

Cassidy was beginning to wonder about whether or not his face would freeze into a permanent smirk or something as she accepted the glass."Thank you."

Just out of courtesy and to prove that the whiskey wasn't poisoned, Mello poured himself a small glass and gave it a try. He hadn't planned to drink much, but just a bit wouldn't hurt.

The thought of poison hadn't crossed her mind at all. It was a public party after all. She was a bit odd though, as she preferred to drink any and everything slowly unless she was parched, so she simply sipped at her whiskey while thinking a bit. Finally, she looked over at him again. "So what do you do here?"

She was drinking her whiskey as if it were tea. That was amazing. Mello was completely unused to drink with anyone who couldn't take a whole glass in a few seconds.

"We talk, drink..." 'and fuck', but that last bit was omitted for obvious reasons. Instead, Mello offered her a reason she might understand better, as silly as it sounded. "It's the perfect chance for you to make new friends. You just have to talk to people and get to know them, everyone's there for that."

"That's nice, but I meant what do YOU do in this city," she said after he finished. She couldn't shake the feeling he'd covered up something but ignored it for the moment. "I'm a medic, so I try to be available if people need one, or need a free room."

So she was actually asking personal questions? Quite unexpected.

Mello relaxed against the couch and retrieved a chocolate bar from his pocket, unwrapping it calmly. "I survive," was all he offered, and it was quite the truth. Mello wasn't a selfless creature like she was, his own well being was the most important to him. Or so he wanted to make her believe with that single, two words statement.

"Seems like what a lot of people have to do..." She took a particularly large gulp of her drink. "Not me though, because I can't, so I help other people do it instead."

Mello observed her drink with mild interest. "How can you help others survive if you aren't good at your own survival first? At least you know how to be careful; the proof is that you're sitting here in one piece."
