Summary: A very curious 14 years old Mello decides to explore the place a bit.
Back in the orphanage, Mello used to be someone special, a true genius considered one of L's successors. He was looked up to by most children, and the teachers seemed to hold him in high respect, even if they also spent a considerable amount of their lives scolding him. In this place, however, Mello was considered 'one of the kids', an unnerving title without a doubt.
Instead of going out to play with the other stupid kids, Mello was determined to learn as much information as possible about this strange dream, hoping to remember it when he woke up. He'd always been a boy of action, wasting time had never been a pleasant pastime.
Equiped with a slightly oversized coat, Mello stepped outside the clinic into the white, ruined city. The situation couldn't have been more interesting-- everything looked exactly like the scenery seen in sci-fi movies and Matt's games. Talk about fiction getting owned by reality. If only he could find out what was going on and who had done this, he could prove himself as number one.
It didn't matter how impossible the task was, Mello'd never been lacking in the determination apartment.
