Characters: Kagurazaka, Asuna (
notamonkeygirl), Anemone (
stuffinhead)
When: During the evening of today
Where: Unohana's clinic, inside and outside of Anemone's room
Rating: I would suppose PG-13 because Anemone talks about hacking limbs off? Just to be on the safe side. And there's long fight scenes.
Summary: Anemone has a headache and Asuna retrieves asprin, but due to the fact medicine alters Anemone's brain, who knows what can happen?
Finally, she was back.
Asuna stopped in front of the door to Anemone's room in the clinic--a room she found herself in several times since Anemone wanted sweets delivered to her instead of going to get them. Asuna couldn't help but do little things for her when she wanted them, though. Anemone was prone to health problems. Headaches, nosebleeds...
Anemone was getting a headache when Asuna had last talked to her, so the pigtailed female went out to find something to quickly remedy this before something like a nosebleed or tons of screaming occured. And with luck, Asuna found some headache medication close by--almost convieniently. Funny, how this place worked.
Asuna knocked on the door to the room that was once her own. "Anemone?"
There was quiet singing. "...If I only had a brain..."
Anemone had been lying in her bed, holding her forehead with a typically displeased expression. After being in this place for a while, she figured she could at least have some kind of adventure. Instead, she had stayed in the clinic so far. It was just like being back home. There were some exceptions, such as rescuing Gulliver and getting her Halloween costume, but...
She narrowed her eyes and glared up at the ceiling. "I would dance and be merry..."
Then why didn't she just go outside? What was holding her back? It couldn't have been the headaches and the nosebleeds. The rare times she DID go out, she didn't really worry.
...Maybe it was just the fact that Dewey and Dominic weren't there.
"Life would be a ding-a-de--?" Suddenly, she realized Asuna was there. She sat up. "...Oh. Hi."
Asuna entered the room. "Hey." She tossed the pill bottle to Anemone. "I found these pretty close by, actually. I'm surprised the bottle was in good condition, and that they were actually headache meds!"
She moved closer to her, sitting at the foot of the bed. "Apparently you're supposed to take two. ...oh, do you want any water with those?"
She smiled. It felt good to help people.
Anemone caught it. She set it in her lap and stared at it. Regular aspirin, huh...? It should be okay. "No. I'm used to downing pills dry."
Gulliver crawled out of the blankets and crawled into Anemone's lap to sniff the bottle. She quickly jerked it away and lightly bopped Gulliver on the head. "No, Gulliver. You would get sick if you had these."
"...Bwoot." The creature stared at Anemone. She petted him and looked up at Asuna.
"...Hey, uh..." She avoided Asuna's eyes for a minute. It was weird, having a friend other than Gulliver. Someone who would help you. ...It made her feel a little guilty. "...Th... Thanks."
"Of course." Asuna smiled. "Anything for a friend."
She glanced down at Gulliver. "Say..." She blinked. "What is he, anyway?" No kind of creature she'd ever think she'd see in her life, that's for sure. But Gulliver was cute. "Can I pet him?"
"My pet, duh." THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW. Anemone looked at Gulliver and she opened the bottle and shook two pills out of it. She popped them in her mouth. "If he likes you."
Gulliver immediantly hissed at Asuna. His fur spiked up into porcupine-like quills.
"Guess not."
Asuna blinked, half-smiling, mostly in shock. "Eh--" The hand she had raised to pet him was lowered. "Wonder why..."
She binked, glancing back up at Anemone. "...I dunno when those'll take into effect. Does it say on the bottle?"
Anemone shrugged and threw it over her shoulder. "...Hey Asuna." She looked up at the ceiling. "...Do you think people back at your home miss you?"
"Actually, from what I've learned, while you're here...it's not like you're even really missing from your home. You're still around, you've just been duplicated and pulled here." Asuna glanced upwards. "Something like that. I'm not an expert on it."
"...That's a weird theory." Anemone said thoughtfully. But just as she finished, something in her head crashed to a stop. Almost immediantly, her eyes widened and remained focused on the ceiling. Her whole body was frozen. No breathing, no twitching... just a soundless sign that something had happened inside of her.
Click.
Asuna's eyes widened. "Anemone? What's wrong?" She shifted closer to the other girl. Did the asprin have a weird side-effect? Why would it?
...then again, this was Adstringendum. Anything could happen here. Anything.
After a moment of staring at the ceiling, it became more obvious that the aspirin had done something to her.
Anemone bowed over and laughed softly. Then she looked up at Asuna. Her eyes were cold and steely as a strange grin spread across her face.
She aimed a kick at Asuna's gut. Hard.
The kick connected to Asuna's stomach and she was sent tumbling off of the bed. She was able to flip back onto her feet before her head hit the ground, and she took a step back.
"Anemone!" She stared on with a mixture of worry and fear. "What's wrong with you?! What did the Aspirin do?!!"
She remembered her Pactio card in her pocket. She could end this quickly. But...did she want to run the risk of injuring Anemone, her friend?
Asuna tensed. She could punch and kick. She'd be okay unless Anemone started to throw things.
Anemone had changed. She seemed to retain herself despite this sudden violent act, but...
She walked close and twirled a strand of pink hair on her finger. "Heehee~... I don't really have much of a home to go back to. I think the only thing worth going back for is Dewey."
She ran over to Asuna and swung her fist. "You're sweet, Asuna... you're just like HER. Do you mind... if I ate you? Then I could be just..." A kick. "...like..." Another punch. "Her."
Asuna was caught too off-guard to defend herself from those two blows, and she was sent crashing into the hard wall. She attempted to collect her thoughts and find an opening--she knew now she had to fight. But first...
"What do you mean by 'eat' me?" Asuna stepped forward, clenching her fists and readying herself. She didn't raise them, not yet, not until Anemone stepped forward--but she was ready. "I'm not going to let you eat me no matter what you mean!" She smirked. Maybe a bad thing to say to someone currently homicidal, but Asuna didn't mind. This would hopefully be over quickly.
Hopefully.
"HeeheeheeHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!" Anemone wasted not time. Laughing viciously, she charged again with another combo of attacks. This time, she hoped to drive Asuna through the wall.
During the whole event, one blunt word echoed nonstop in her head.
Kill.
Kill.
KILL.
Asuna managed to block a good amount of the attacks--some struck, but most she ducked away from. She smiled. The training really did help.
"Anemone, stop this, please! I don't want to hurt you!" Asuna shouted, thrusting a fist into the other girl's stomach. Either it'd just knock her over, or slam her into the opposite wall--either way, it would be over, unless Anemone was hiding something.
Anemone was knocked back a few feet. But she wasn't down for long. She quickly got up, insane laughter filling up the little room. "Hurt ME?!"
Asuna didn't wince at the noise, but instead continued to watch her laugh.
"Yeah! I don't want to hurt you, you're my friend!!"
Anemone suddenly stopped laughing. She stared down Asuna, the malicious smile still on her face. "I don't have any friends." She attacked again.
"What?!! Anemone, what are you talking ab--"
A blow collided with her face, thrusting her back up against the wall--this time, hard enough to form a dent. The world began to spin and she found herself sliding to the ground. Before her rear hit the floor she grabbed onto the small dent in the wall, and raised herself to her feet.
It was time to get serious.
But they couldn't do it in here. How?
Asuna glanced to her left. The window! This one had a glass covering, so if Asuna could slide it open somehow, she could lure her outside.
Satisfied with her idea, she knew she needed to heighten her senses. She focused all of her body's energy into one hand, the world's energy into the other, and clapped them together. With a burst of light that turned into a glow around her, she was ready to go.
But Kanka could only work for so long. How much time did she have before she'd go unconscious?
"What the HE--" Anemone threw her arms over her eyes. What was going on?!
Through the cloud of "kill" commanding her mind, her instincts knew she needed something to protect herself. A weapon. theEND wasn't here... she'd have to figure something out when she could see again. First, prepare for what was coming.
The glowing in the room stopped until it was just centered around her--she was still visible, yes, but glowing white with her hair blowing in an invisible wind.
She took a quick step forward, launching herself at Anemone, going in for the 'kill'...
But for a moment, she stopped. Should she hit her? Was it a good idea to use Kanka for such a quick battle? ...was she underestimating Anemone? Anemone did cause the pounding headache she had now.
Normally, Anemone would be marvelling at this. But the right drugs altered her personality. Right now, she was what her usual, specifically-made "medicines" would make her; Focused, cold,...
Homcidal.
"You see? 'Friends' keep you from doing your job. Shouldn't you be stopping me now or something?" A smirk. "I might be your friends into little bloody SQUISHY pulps! Heeheehee!"
Anemone bolted for the door and into the hallway. She looked around wildly. There HAD to be something she could use...
She ran through the hallway and skidded into a random room. Then she saw it. A pair of scissors. She snatched them up and held them at the tip. Then she went back to her "prey".
Asuna had begun to chase after Anemone, but she was back by the time Asuna had gotten down the hallway. Spotting her, and wishing not to get anyone else involved, she darted back to the room and wrenched open the window. Cool air rushed into the room but Asuna could barely feel it over the heat of the Kanka.
She looked back behind her, planning to leap through the window when Anemone showed herself again.
Anemone stalked down the hallway back to her room. Her head lolled back and forth and she announced what she'd be doing to Asuna.
"Asuna-chaaaaan? I have a suprise for you! I won't tell you what it is, but you can start guessing!" She yelled. "It's sharp and pointy, but it's not a knife~! It cuts paper, hair, and sometimes even people's arms!" Apparently, this was insanely funny. She doubled over in hysterical laughter she she arrived in her room. "It's not MEANT to cut people's arms off. It's kind of messy, but it'll be fun to try on you!"
Then she looked up with her purple, red-slashed eyes and hid the scissors behind her back. "Any guesses yet~?"
Asuna's eyes widened. No, she couldn't let fear get the best of her--not now. She placed her foot on the wall, leaping onto the window ledge and crouching down. She didn't quite realize her back was fully exposed as she turned her head to look.
"...scissors?" Asuna blinked. "Scissors can't cut off people's--why am I thinking about this?!!"
"Don't run away!" She screamed. She ran for the window and raised her hand to plunge the scissors into Asuna's back. "I haven't even told you your prize for getting it RIGHT~!"
Seeing Anemone's hand movements, she quickly spun around, still keeping on the window ledge. "I don't want to know the--" Her foot then slipped, and she almost fell out the window--but instincts told her to grab onto the ledge once more. She pushed herself back inside, not noticing she had less weight in her sweatshirt pocket now. The PCD had fallen to the floor when she spun around, and was lying discarded nearby.
"Put those down!!" Asuna shouted, trying to keep herself level on the windowsill. Using one hand, she fished into her pants pocket.
Anemone laughed again and charged for Asuna. She tried shoving her out the window.
Asuna's foot jerked out and hit Anemone in the stomach before she could shove her, but once again she lost her balance--this time, she went tumbling out the window.
Anemone fell back but she laughed yet again. "Insane" people (or people with unstable minds that could be altered with ANYTHING they ingest, such as Anemone) usually found everything amusing. Apparently, Asuna falling out the window was funny.
She raised the scissors, again tip-pointed, towards the window. A fresh crazed grin twisted across her lips, giving her usual pretty face an odd, dark sort of beauty. She climbed over the window and tried to stab Asuna's head.
Asuna barely had time to regain her wits before Anemone struck again--Asuna jerked her head out of the way, but her left pigtail was not so lucky. Asuna was too tense, too panicked to realize hair had been chopped off on one side to half of its original length, and she rolled back on her feet.
No. The Kanka was getting weaker.
She had to finish this, NOW. She slid a card out of her pocket.
"Adeat!!" With another flash of light, the Pactio card transformed into a large harisen fan. Asuna didn't want to run the risk of killing Anemone and causing her to lose something important to her.
Asuna smirked after she took a deep breath. Her confidence was back now, knowing she could win this. Why didn't she use her card in the first place? "Come and get me, Anemone!!"
"Oopsie!" Anemone yanked the scissors out of the dirt. "I haven't gotten around to cutting off your appendages yet, but at least you got a haircut--"
Then she noticed the fan. "...Ooooh, fancy." Her twisted smiles remained. "I can do fancy things too, you know. If I had theEND with me... but it doesn't matter. I can kill you by myself!"
With a terrible screech she ran for Asuna yet again, scissors pointed and ready.
Asuna readied herself. When Anemone got close enough, she leaped into the air and landed behind her. She thrust her wrist forward and slammed the metal fan into Anemone's back with enough force to hopefully knock her down.
She gasped as the force travelled through her lungs and quite literally knocked the wind out of her. Anemone immediantly crumbled to the ground.
Asuna stopped, lowering the weapon. Did it work? She took a step back, just in case it didn't.
There was a brief twitch, but yes. Anemone was out cold.
Asuna sighed in relief, but in the same time her chest tightened as she was filled with panic. Letting the fan transform back into its card state, she lifted Anemone from off of the ground and entered back in through the window.
She set Anemone gently back down on the bed, and removed the scissors from her hands. Asuna examined them for a moment before casting them aside onto a bedside table. She slumped to the floor, closing her eyes.
Anemone had better be okay.
After all, she was Asuna's friend.
