It took Unohana a bit longer for the coffee than it would have for the tea, but she thought she had managed to make sometthing decent. The truth was, she had no actual idea of what made a good coffee, so she could only hope that she had gotten it right.

She carried the warm mug carefully and went to knock on the door of the room that Kamui-san had chosen as his own. Apparently he had awoken just before sundown, like Jin-san's guests. Unohana still couldn't explain it.

She did not wait for an answer and came in, carrying the steaming mug to the bedside table.

"How are you feeling, Kamui-san ?"

When he had awoken Kamui had felt far more drained than he normally felt after waking up. He had tried to grasp some sense of time, trying to remember when he had fallen asleep. His eyes blinked as he tried to get a better view of the room; at first the teen had put the darkness down to his awakening, after several tries the light hadn’t improved. That left only one possibility, it was the evening.

Kamui pushed himself up into a somewhat sitting position, scratching the back of his neck as he did so, and rolling his shoulders lightly to ease out the cramps. He wondered what had caused his sudden sleep at what seemed like such an odd time.

Upon pondering his thoughts he missed the knock on his door, only aware of another person when they entered. His head glanced up and a small smile crossed his lips.

“Unohana-san.” His voiced croaked slightly from the lack of use. “Ah, coffee.” He looked down at the liquid. It was wonderful for waking people up but the taste was far too bitter.

"I am not sure that it is drinkable, but it is the best that I could come up with on such short notice," Unohana said with a small apologetic smile. "If you are feeling better, you can go rummage around the kitchen."

She took the chair next to the bed and sat down. Those constant energy surges as people collapsed and woke up were taking their toll on her as well.

"Do you want me to examine you again ? I healed your head before putting you to bed this morning."

“I’m sure it will be fine.” He paused slightly and picked up the mug, swirling it as he did. “If I cringe it’s most likely the coffee itself.” He added with a small smile before blowing across the mug in an attempt to cool it slightly.

He took a quick swing of the coffee, trying hard to keep a straight face through the bitter taste. Kamui pulled a small face after he swallowed his mouthful, “Drinkable but coffee still isn’t at the top of my drink list.” He commented lightly, taking another mouthful.

“I thank you for doing that for me.” He kept his head dipped slightly with his eyes focused on the mug, “It must be bothersome.” He glanced up slightly, “Don’t strain yourself.”

"It is no bothersome, I assure you," Unohana said. "If anything, the worklaod is a lot lighter than what I usually have to deal with at home."

She was about to say something else when another dizzy spell hit, probably caused by one of the many people that she'd been keeping an eye on waking up from the trance. Her right hand let go of Minazuki, and the nodachi fell on the wooden floor, the blue steel sheath emitting a resounding sound as it touched the ground.

“It’s not good for your health.” Kamui protested slightly, “Even if the work is less here, the conditions are surely worse…”

All of the words he was going to say left his mind when he saw something was wrong with the healer. He had never been the best at pin pointing things that were wrong, only the basics.

“Unohana-san.” He spoke slightly louder than he’d meant to, worry taking over his voice. He placed a hand on her shoulder, glancing at her face to see if anything was seriously wrong. “Unohana-san?” He repeated in a slightly quieter tone at the cost of his worry showing more.

He jumped slightly at the noise but didn’t move his hand.

"I will be fine," Unohana assured him as she slowly regained control. She put her onw hand on top of his and squeezed it a bit in thanks for the support.

She would have to take some time to isolate herself and try and center herself again.

"With all those people collapsing, the flow of enrgy has been very disturbed," she explained, her voice regaining a bit of strength with each word. "I am very sensitive to all kind of energies, and I have never reacted so strongly to something that could be termed minor. The strong surges in spirit power from people collapsing and aking up have been taxing, I have to admit. I just had not realized how much."

Kamui nodded slightly although he was still visibly worried. He hated people getting hurt somehow, especially when they were around him, even if he wasn’t the direct cause.

“I heard about the others…” He trailed off slightly as he tried to gather his words. “Are they all okay?” He decided to ask first, of what he’d heard different people seemed to have different experiences, “I heard some of them were dead for a short time.”

Kamui thought briefly, lowering his head as he did, before speaking his current thoughts. “I think this has something to do with the strange voices…I think they’re angry…”

"It seemed that everyone regained consciousness once night fell. I do not know much beyond that, since you are the first one I have come to see."

Unohana frowned at the mention of the 'voices'. So it had been spread out on the entire network then.

"I have to wonder ... was the message itself the virus that somehow transmitted this affliction ? Or was it a warning of things to come ? Did it happen because of the murders, or were our arrivals enough to disturb the spirits of this world ? There are so many questions ... and no one seems to be very forthcoming with answers," she finished with a decidedly unhappy look on her face.

She bent down to pick up Minazuki, but remained seated as she inspected the sheath.

"Have you learned anything new about this Project people ?"

Kamui nodded and took a sip of his coffee in order to steady his nerves. “I must be keeping you away from someone worse off then.” He’d meant for it to be said in a light manner but it came out with a hollow and distant tone.

“The message seemed to be from someone of something, most likely dead.” He had been thinking about the topic recently. “I doubt that the message could have caused this by itself but…” He paused and shifted slightly, “Well suppose that message was like a transmitter for those dead beings. Maybe they can use the signals to reach us and affect us.” Kamui reasoned before adding, “Although the effect seems to depend on the person.”

“To be honest I haven’t really met up with anyone, at least not someone who would have any knowledge.” He snorted slightly, “This is all like some cruel prank from a higher position, destiny hates me…” He placed the mug on the stand and then dramatically fell back onto the bed. Trying to be amusing in his own way.

Unohana patted Kamui-san's arm as he fell back, sparing an indulgent smile for his antics.

"Well, I think I am going to go rest for a bit, before everyone wakes up and needs seeing to. Why don't you rest a bit more ? You can always get up when you feel better. You will have to excuse me for this, but I would rather not do an energy scan of you right now. Maybe when things are a bit more stable I can check that there is truly nothing wrong."

She got up with a sigh.

"I will be in my own room for a short while. Do not hesitate to call if you need anything."

Kamui nodded, he could understand her feeling so drained and needing rest. He sat up again, leaning back on his elbows watching quietly. He picked up on the sigh and without really noticing it swung himself to the side of the bed before pushing himself up to his feet.

He stretched slightly, yawning as he did so, “I don’t think you should be doing anything until this is all over, you might end up damaging yourself.” Kamui silently added the word permanently to the end of his sentence although he wouldn’t say that out loud. “I’m sure everyone else will be fine if you take a whole night off. I presume we’re all old enough under this roof to support ourselves.” He tilted his head slightly and smiled warmly.

“For once you should have people waiting on you.” He added calmly.

"Thank you, Kamui-san," Unohana said, her smile softer. "I will take care of myself, if only because my duty to take care of others cannot have me performing at less than one hundred percent. I am just ... worried. Between this, the murders, and constant new arrivals, we are having a rough week."

She walked to the door and opened it, turning around one last time.

"If Orcot-san comes by to talk about the murders, please tell him that I am resting. And if you can remember it, give him the location of the body that you found. He might want to go to the scene."

She nodded once, to herself, as if to ascertain she had said all that she wanted to.

"Well then, I will leave you to your own devices. I will be in my room should anything happen," she said as she left the room.
