it can be easy to forget this when i'm slogging through a paper overnight, and get a disappointing B to show for it, but studying art can sometimes be like falling in love over and over again, if you are lucky. i'm taking a class on the aesthetic history of photography, and it's taken me this long, but i am now encountering images that inspire that kind of feeling in me.
Kurokawa Suizan, "Untitled" (1906)Frederick Evans, "Sea of Steps" (1903) Daido Moriyama, Stray Dog" (1971) haha... it also makes me want to go to japan again. or maybe just own a lot of japanese prints and photographs.
in other news, i can't believe i'm at my desk, memorizing dates and names again. i believe that i was once actually good at this, in a distant past. but right now, it just feels daunting and it is taking my time away from all these other things i could be doing... it will be over on thursday.
