hypothetical concert poster

after the first draft was critiqued i made these two versions in different format. i'm not that keen on the font for the date and the title of the concert, but i am tired of staring at it. it's always this way with design, huh. i work on it until i want to poke my eyes out, and then it's 'done'. so anyway the whole reason why it's so simple is because i tried to bell-and-whistle it up the first time round but aaron says that the best thing about the poster was the logo and that everything was distracting from it, so i took it all out. even the name of the band - because my imaginary band has such an iconic logo that it is instantly recognisable to all who matter. and for those who don't already know it, the name of the band is in the necessary weblink at the bottom of the page. still really wish this band actually exists. i would make glow-in-the-dark stickers for you, galactic fish, and paste it all around town, not to mention make glo-graffiti a thing. (Y) viral marketing!

the first draft:
a lot of complication, diluting the strength of the logo by using it as wallpaper, hideous drop shadow and too-bright font... you get the idea. i guess i thought i needed all of it when in reality i didn't.

an alternative design:
i actually quite like this one! except it doesn't have the radiocity pixel backdrop to it. i don't know how much that matters. feel free to comment/critique. the class is on thursday.
