In honor of the sunny summer that was, here’s a camping dessert recipe.
Apple surprise
Ingredients

* 4 apples, any variety

* 1 cup whole wheat flour

* 1 tablespoon (2 tablespoons if you are feeling decadent…) butter, cubed into small pieces

* 1/4 cup brown sugar

* 1/8 teaspoon salt

* 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

* aluminum foil

* tongs
Process

1.  BEFORE you go camping, put the flour, butter, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a small ziploc bag.

2.  After you are camping and when you’ve got the fire going nicely, slice the apples.

3.  On a large sheet of aluminum foil, place the apples and the ziploc mixture and stir it a bit so things get coated.

4.  Wrap it up nice and tight.  Place your foil packet on top of another sheet of foil (so there are two layers) and wrap it up nice and tight.

5.  Place it in the fire for 20 minutes, flipping it over after 10 minutes.

6.  Remove from fire, cool, and enjoy.
