I have been reading and writing all day long. I wrote a paper about this study called, Alcohol and Illicit Drug Abuse and the Risk of Violent Death in the Home. It was quite interesting actually. According to the study Alcohol and drug use greatly increased the risk of homicide and suicide for people who either use the substances themselves or merely live with others who do. Interestingly people who live alone are at an increased risk of suffering a violent death whether or not they drink alcohol or use drugs. People who live alone and do not drink held a 5 fold increased risk of homicide compared to people who do not drink and live with others. The risk increases even more for individuals that drink and live alone. The opposite is true for illicit drug use. People who use illicit drugs are more likely to suffer a violent death if they live with others. If you are interested you can read the study by following link.
