Behind the link you'll find several pictures from the storm today...
The snow started around 2 AM, so there was a fair bit by morning. Though it is difficult to tell in the photo, the squirrel is standing upright. (He had burrowed tunnels through the snow, which is why there are no tracks leading up to him.) I grabbed my camera the moment I saw him there in the snow, thinking he might run once I pulled open the blinds -- and I was right. So the only photo I got of him was thru the blinds.
Here is a shot of the deck with the door open, which gives a better idea of the depth of the snow (which was nearly a foot).
Though Tim and I wandered around the golf course for some time, we didn't think to bring the camera... but we snapped a few quick pics once we got back. Below is a shot of my car next to Tim's, getting buried in the snow...
And here's Tim standing (yes, he is standing) in a snowbank left by the plow:
He had tried to climb over it, but sunk in to his waist.
By the time we'd returned, the snow had piled up more on the deck. The pic below shows my chair with the "snow pyramid" on it, and by this time the snow on the deck was nearly as high as the seat of the chair...
The weather report said that snowfall accumulations would increase during the late afternoon and evening hours -- and they weren't kidding. By that night, the deck looked like this:
Yes, that is solid snow, not merely a drift blown up against the glass. Have another look:
And here's my chair -- completely buried together with its snow pyramid:
(Yep, it's under there. Somewhere.)
Tim and I wondered how our cars must have looked by then. Eventually, curiosity got the better of me... so here's another shot of our cars, taken that night:
Pretty good storm, huh?
