i was looking forward to this day beginning from last night and it didn't disappoint. it was worrisome in the morning when it looked kinda cloudy out there and it might rain, but it ended up being a beautiful, albeit hot, day. i had fun, and in the truest sense of the word- i jumped from sport to sport, just playing around like kids, just for a day. it was great. beach football, i may have gotten sacked four, maybe five times, but it was buckets of fun (note: i played shirts). and baseball was just as i'd imagined, except with more people, but the m4s played a GREAT game against an s5 team that had a lot more athleticism and talent than us, but we gutted out a 7-7 tie. i didn't play great, but i had a ridiculously good time. my legs feel like rubber and they'll hurt tons tomorrow, and i have this weird sprinkly feeling in my fingers, but i haven't felt better in a long while. and it'll help in my exams, becuase i'm refreshed and ready to get down and dirty with the books.
afterwards i went to go pick up my french costume and i waited for my dad outside osgood station, and i saw christy on her bike, with abi and renee in tow, which was handy because i was falling asleep on this bench on the street and my stuff would've probably gotten stolen. ends up though there's a rule in the ttc that you can't bring in a bike until it's after 6:30, and as it was 5:15 she couldnt think of how she could get home. so adrian was there to save the day, by giving her and her bike a ride home. i warned her that i was exhausted to the point that i'd probably sleep in the car, but i didn't and it was actually pretty fun having her there, because she enjoyed my dad's sense of humour and decided that he was where i got my sharp and tangy wit from. which is totally untrue- im SO much funnier than my dad. i mean psht.
but she touched on something in the car that was interesting to me- how it is that guys can be so consumed by what girls seem to be silly- rolling around in sand playing sports, throwing around what's really just a round object in the air, and be so into it. we coudl spend hours, like i and many others did, just playing sports and playing our hearts out, while most girls don't quite find it their cup of tea. which reminded me of the line from i think a mike jones song that read "give me the ball and see what i can do with it"; the males need to play, whether or not they're good, to satisfy those testosteronal cravings that are just so natural for a man and are so repulsive for females. it's the same need to drink beer, watch the football game on the big screen tv, to break some heads. i just thought that was kinda cool.
anyway, so my day was really good and with today as my day off, i hit the books running tomorrow.
ps i've decided to start a new tradition- before i go to sleep (on weekdays only), as i prepare everything by laying out my clothes for the next day and setting aside my wallet and phone and things i need to bring for tomorrow and putting them in my bag so i don't forget, i will play the scissor sisters' take your mama out and dance to it while doing it. it's just a song that puts an extra hop in my step, everytime i listen to it it makes me want to dance. just a little note :p
