Not too long ago Andrea and I went to Chicago for a quick weekend getaway. Previously I had only been to the airport on a layover and as we all know, you can't tell anything about a city by their airport. I new that the city was going to be large with a lot of things to see and do and I knew that there was a rather large puddle around there somewhere. I underestimated the City of Wind on all counts. We were never at a loss for something to do. We had a growing itinerary that we cultivated before we arrived that had to be judiciously pruned back to only the "Musts". I will not bore with details. Save one or two observations: First of all, what was most striking was how nice everyone seemed to be. Of course that may have been due to the absurdly beautiful weather (70 degrees, no humidity) but all of our waiters and waitresses, ticket takers and punchers and even nameless-joe-schmoes were all kind and polite. Secondly, everywhere we ate was amazing. We both now hold 24-hour taco joints close to our hearts. As far as the lake... Well, it was large indeed. A huge large lake. Some call it..... great. But I don't know about that. Neat maybe. The Neat Lake Michigan.
And now for a string of pictures....
The picture below is a riveting reenactment of that scene from The Abyss while the other pictures two very delicious Bloody Marys.
