The last poem for you

May 10, 2005 20:11

I stayed up all that night
With thoughts of confusion
Hearing each breath
Watching your chest rise and fall
No it's not what you think
I could watch you sleep like this
For as long as you'd let me
3 a.m.
I find myself alone
Even though my arm is resting on your stomach
Even though our heartbeats have found the same rhythm
My best friend
Barely visible by the clock's light
I smile at you for the last time
And we both know
That when I leave
My presence will linger in my absence

- Just a little something I wrote
