Let's just get this out of the way right now... I was supposed to leave for Florida on Thursday of this week. Mike and my brother were supposed to be leaving today (as they were driving down). I mention this only because I'm going to be cranky all this week and thought it would at least be polite to mention why.

Oh, other reason I'm cranky; after hours and hours of deliberation last week, therefore giving us a brief glimmer of hope, the NHL and NHLPA failed to come to any sort of agreement. Season pretty much dead. They all suck.

Watched The Punisher last night. Not bad actually. I liked it way more than I did Daredevil. Not in Spider-Man/X-Men movie league, but still pretty good. The wiping out of Frank Castle's entire (and I do mean ENTIRE) family was done well and appropriately heart-wrenching (and with some shades of Mad Max), and the bloody revenge he takes was well done. Travolta is still playing a parody of himself for the most part, but he wasn't too annoying. Once I get past how much Thomas Jane reminds me of Christopher Lambert, I thought Jane was pretty good in the title roll. A descent adaptation overall.
Of course, never having read much Punisher, I'm probably more willing to let things go in this. Although, I also haven't read a lot of Daredevil and I still thought that movie sucked. Go figure.

Mike and I also went to the Real Canadian Superstore yesterday because I wanted to go. This store is Loblaw's answer to Walmart and isn't half bad. I wanted to check it out precisely for that reason, if I'm going to go to a big box store, I'd prefer it to be Canadian owned, and while it doesn't have quite the selection that Walmart has, I was still impressed! We got two pairs of pants and a nice fleece sweatshirt for Jet for 15 dollars. I got myself one of those three in one, waterproof winter ski jackets for a whopping 22 dollars! Also got a new storage shelf for the basement and a few other things. I liked it, I'd definitely go back, and eventually, I hope they will have the selection that Walmart has, I'd much rather support Loblaws (or Zellers) than Walmart.

Going to be listening to a lot of the Hip this week I think, I need the comfort food.

hockey, superheroes, movies
