The main thing I took from this past Thanksgiving weekend? I wish I had gone camping...
The weather was just soooo increadibly gorgeous that I was just longing to pack up and head into the wilderness. This wanting to get away from it all was helped by the fact that I wouldn't actually have Jet for Thanksgiving dinner with the extended family, and I was a wee bit disappointed about that.
Anway, even without camping, the weekend was good. Saturday we borrowed (my) car from my grandparents and did a run to the Great Canadian Super Store, gods we love that place, to do a nice major grocery shop. We then headed for a Value Village to find Jet a Hallowe'en costume after he dismissed all of the liscensed costumes at the Superstore. He wanted to have a 'fuzzy animal costume' like the one he had last year, when he was a monkey. So we found him a nice fuzzy lion costume and he was quite pleased with that. After the Village, we headed for the LCBO to stock up on BOOZE. It was good.
Sunday, Jet headed off to his dad's and Graig read an actual book for most of the day. I cleaned the house 'cause it really needed to be done. Bah. Then we headed to my aunt's farm for Thanksgiving dinner. Which was good despite the absence of Jet, my favourite cousin and pumpkin pie. For some reason unfathomable to the rest of us, my one aunt managed to convince grandma that not many people in the family actually liked pumpkin pie. Which is not accurate. So there was much grumbling about no pumpkin pie until we drowned our sorrows in cherry pie, apple crumble and cream puffs. After dinner we all sat down to watch a couple of SNL skits from the Anne Hathaway hosted ep; the Tina Fey Sarah Palin spoof, and the Lawrence Welk skit which had everyone singing 'doo de do doo' until it was time to go home.
Monday Graig and I slept in, then flaked out watching episodes of the second season of Rome until it was time for us to go to my grandparents' to return the car, and so that Graig, my brother and cousin could help remove the no longer working 40 year old mafia-sized deep freeze from my grandparents' basement. It was a bit of a struggle, but the three managed to get it done with no major injuries incurred. Then grandma fed us and that was good too.
Graig and I returned home and finished off Season 1 of the British version of Life on Mars, which was an awesome, awesome episode and I just don't see how the American version of this show can match up remotely.
Went and voted this morning nice and early, which meant we got to sleep in, as I have tennis this evening and so wouldn't be back in my riding until after the polls closed. And yes, it was a game time decision and most Stanley Cup rings did end up influencing my decision.
Now there is nothing left to do with this election but watch the fall-out this evening.
