We've been SO good...(amongst other things)

As previously mentioned, the husband and I, in a concerted effort to save money, have decided to bring our lunches to work more often. This week was our first foray into it, and let me just say we did an amazing job of not eating out this week. We bought our lunch every single day this week! We had sandwiches, chilli, left-over lasagne, and stew! And we easily saved ourselves a good 60 bucks this week! We are increadibly proud of ourselves and with such a successful start, I think we'll keep at it.

Of course, what we haven't been good with is the whole avoidance of Hallowe'en candy. He haven't been avoiding it at all. It's too tempting and my brother isn't holding up his end of eating as much of it as he can. He's usually so reliable about these things too... I think this Sunday, I'm going to package up half of it and send it with Jet to his Dad's. He needs to have some candy over there too, where there is no way I can possibly eat it...

Busy weekend this weekend; clothes shopping for Jet (he went and grew again, darnit); taking the dinning room table and chairs to Goodwill; going to Ikea with my sister-in-law Sunday morning; heading off to Brantford Sunday afternoon to take my matress and box spring to the parental units. Fortunately, they will feed us in exchange for giving them my bed. Which I will greatly look forward to sleeping on next time I'm at the parents' place, as I HATE the guest bed that's currently there.

Last Sunday, my favourite show that is not called Lost or What Not to Wear started up again, and I'm pleased to announce that the first episode of this Amazing Race was very enjoyable. Even more enjoyable was one of the most annoying teams was the one that got eliminated first! Love it! Love even more that the annoying team (and another nearly as annoying team) was elimiated because they had to rely on the fickle, stubborn good graces of a donkey in order to complete the task. A couple of the donkeys absolutely refused to move and it was brilliant. Utterly brilliant. Not quite as brilliant as My ox is BROKEN!!, it was still highly entertaining.
The other teams are entertaining too, and I'm wondering exactly how far it will be into the race before the Goth couple are just too tired to bother with their make-up regiment in the mornings.

Speaking of Lost, Graig mentioned to me today that they have eight episodes fully finished, but that the writers strike will most likely impact them being able to finish the last eight. Which sucks. Don't get me wrong, I fully side with the writers in this strike (umm, why the hell shouldn't they be getting residuals from various things?), but it does suck that it will impact what is pretty much the only fully-scripted show I watch. Especially since I have to wait until Jan. to see it in the first place. Oh well. Fortunately we have lots of DVDs to watch. And a brand new season of the Amazing Race under way :)
