One down...

Well, I had my first medical school interview on Friday at Tulane. I think it went pretty well which is totally exciting. It's really strange, I'm now like totally enamored with Tulane! For the last couple of years, I've just always had it in my head that I was going to go to LSU in New Orleans, but who knows! My dad and I went down to New Orleans on Thursday afternoon. We had a good time. We stayed at the Radisson on Canal, and it was located right down the street from where my interview was. My dad and I walked around the medical district a bit the day before the interview. It was really exciting...I was a total goober and played,"Spot the Med Student" the entire time...haha! There were people in scrubs and lab coats EVERYWHERE! It was soo cool. Tulane also has their buildings connected to their hospital and housing complex by way of these over the road tunnels. I felt super cool walking into the hospital from the breezeway attached to the med school. It was great. I had three interviews in all. I had one with the chaplain who was soo nice. I had one with a doctor of pediatrics who was also pretty cool, and my last interview was with one of the second year medical students during lunch. This guy was so nice and offered alot of really great information. It was really funny because I mentioned something about SAI, and he was like,"I'm a PMA." Small world! It was a great lunch, and we actually got so caught up in talking that I missed the first part of my tour of the campus...oops! It's ok, the girl giving the tour backtracked with me after she'd finished with the others to give me the rest of the tour. I got to see the student lounge, a lecture room, the bookstore, the Tulane Hospital, and the anatomy lab. I actually ran into my dad at one point during the tour, and the student let him come along to see the lecture hall and the lab. For those of you wondering...yes, I did get to see one of the cadavers. Yes, it smelled pretty bad, but it was really cool! All in all, I think it went really well, so I hope to get a good response from the Admissions Committee...now I just have to wait! They said that it would be about two weeks...ahh!! My next interview is this Wednesday at LSU in New Orleans...hopefully that'll go as well as the Tulane interview. Anywho, just wanted to let you all know how it went!
