Katrina

Hello everyone...Steven and I did make it out of New Orleans prior to the hurricane. We're doing fine, but are, of course, a little uneasy with everything going on. We are staying with my parents in Lafayette and waiting to hear news about our home. The whole thing has been overwhelming, especially all the footage on TV. We've received notice that the med school will be transferred, more than likely to Pennington in Baton Rouge. School is to resume somewhere within the next three weeks. It's great, but at the same time, we don't even know the state of our home. We're being told that we can go back on Monday to collect some personal items and do a general survey and then we have to leave. It'll probably be about a month before we can go back to our homes for good. Please pray for everyone involved...this has turned the world and lives of all the Gulf coast residents upside down.

On a personal note, please keep my mother in your thoughts. She has been called out to New Orleans with her friend Angela to work triage at the I10 and Causeway station. They are truly in the thick of things, and we are all, of course, worried about them. She'll be home, we think, in about a week. We also have many relatives who have lost their homes in Gulfport and Pascagoula...and, of course, friends who have lost homes in New Orleans, Metairie, etc. please pray for all of them. Everyone will get thru it...just a real tough time.

Steven and I (and the pets) are safe though. That was my main reason for posting. We will keep you all posted on how things go with us.
